Visiting K6UDA in Idaho so we decided to take a brand new D75 and compared it to the D74. It is long but interesting and the quality of this radio justifies the price.

I've got a new SMA connector for my D74 on the way. Thanks for showing how it's done!

Glad to help. It is the same.

Awesome video, Don and Bob. Here in Brazil expanding frequency is trivial, because local regulations and bands allow it. Thanks for explaining. I never seen another brand to do this. From Hams, to Hams.

Dare we say, after seeing the outstanding build quality of this unit, that it’s worthy of the hefty price tag?

WOW. You are very brave to do this breakdown video. Thank you!

It's really interesting to see inside the 75, so thanks for that 👍 It's slightly hard for me to watch though! The lack of proper tools (the screw heads are JIS not Philips) and fingerprints everywhere are triggering my OCD 😂

This was a field operation never heard of a JIS.

JIS stands for Japanese Industrial Standard. The screws are designed not to strip when using a JIS screwdriver. Phillips may work but greater risk of stripping the screw.

I have a D-74 and really like it. Looks like everything KENWOOD wished they had put in the D74 they put in the D75 LOL. Great radio but, not worth $700+. Thanks for the show.

So when's Kenwood gonna do a mobile version of the 75? Like a TM-D750G. We want it, Kenwood!

I bought a D75 as a spare to my D74. Now if only I could hook my D75 to a tablet for APRSdroid via USB-C instead of Bluetooth...

Can not pair with iOS. Android is ok and will work

Don, great video. I like all the detail, I'm going to need it, I believe. Question about the encoder on these radios. I have a D74. The encoder doesn't change frequencies like it should. It just cycles back and forth between 2 different freqs (ex: 144.400 and 144.450, etc.). From the info I could find, it could be a bad encoder and/or a dirty connection, at the flex connection I suppose. Have you run into this type of issue or heard of it on the 74 (and obviously something that could develop on the 75s as they age)? Whats the best way to gingerly clean that flex connector connection? Thx.
