The 3D models and their animations are honestly fantastic for an N64 game! Of course a game like this has the advantage of only having to render two characters with their moves and a simple stadium, but the quality is not to be taken for granted.

I remember when I was a kid I almost beated R2 Prime cup masterball with rentals, but my last pokemon, Starmie, died vs the last oponent pokemon, mew, which had only 30 or so hp left, I just had to hit it with surf to win, starmie outspeeds mew, used surf and I said "that's it, I finally defeated this thing", nex thing is see on the screen is Surf, a 100% accurate move, missing mew! that haunted me for months, later i learned that there is a glitch in first gen that makes 100% accuracy moves fail 1 out of 256 times.

@ifrqi
@ifrqi 2 жыл бұрын
the 1/256 miss chance was fixed for pokemon stadium, so in theory moves like surf should never miss. A speed runner missed thunderbolt (another 100% accurate move) during a full game run of stadium, which is leading to theories on how stadium fixed the 1/256 miss.The working theory is that there is a 1/65535 chance to miss a 100% accurate move due to something about short intergers that I don't understand. You might have stumbled upon this same chance back then

Overall liked the video but as a note for improvement for stadium 2 whenever that is I would recommend trying to line up the commentary to the game play a little more. Sometimes the commentary lined up very well other times the commentary didn't line up until the end of the battle. Likely this was caused by the games slow pacing for the fights due to long animations not sure if stadium 2 the gameplay could be slightly sped up or clipped as it may look weird. I understand this would take significantly more effort. I know some channels do not line up all gameplay but for the context of the series it would be better suited quality wise as the intention is the complete the game and this is inva sense the story. Just my thoughts though

13:29 What would have happened is since it was a draw and not caused by explosion or self destruct is it would have counted as a loss for you 13:45 Maybe not a great deal for you as you don't play the cartridge games, but the idea of most of the gifts was they were supposed to be sent to your cartridge as they helped you get Pokemon you couldn't really get in the game because you had locked them out. The possible gifts were Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander (so you could get the other two starters you didn't choose) Ominite and Kabuto (So you could get both the Fossil Pokemon from Mount Moon) and Evee. Evee was there Red and Blue had FOUR WAYS Evee could Evolve (Jolteon, Flareon, Vaproeon or remain an Evee) and only gave you access to ONE Evee during the game.

Man I beat round 1 on original hardware, thought I beat the game then I saw there was round 2 and thought "nah I'm not doing that all over again.." 2 days later I was back into it. It didn't feel completed, the first day of round 2 went well, the game was still fresh in my mind, I thought "I can do this." Jump back in the next day and my save file was totally gone.. the N64 cart had a dodgy battery. I then sold it along with Red and the transfer pak. Totally done with it.. Then I got a good deal on Stadium 2 with a transfer pak and now I'm back into it with Gold. Going for round 2 completion. If the battery gives out this time I might cry. I was playing Stadium 1 maybe 2 years ago and I forgot how rigged it can be. The handheld games feel like the cpu have the same luck with move hits, status effects and stuff but in Stadium 2 I use a move like Blizzard and I'll hit 1-2 times out of 5, they use it and it lands every time sometimes with a crit. Could be coincidence I'm only 4 hours in but man.. not to mention doing the gym battles, went up against Bugsy assuming he had bug pokemon. Homeboy throws out Pupitar, the rock/ground thing that goes from dragon to cocoon to dragon.. absolute bs. Was not prepared. That being said I regret selling Stadium 1, I was just so pissed off by it. Wasn't a money thing I just didn't want to look at it. That aside it's a fantastic party game. Played it in college, everyone even filthy casuals were into it. Boring story but there you go.
