Taraji P. Henson is such a remarkable person. She has a pure heart and she is always willing to help others. She is always an inspiration to others and she works hard to make her dreams come true. She is truly a role model. I love the way she holds the sisterhood down. She is such a strong, independent, and courageous woman. She is a great example of how to never give up and to keep going no matter what obstacle is in the way. She is an inspiration to many. For instance, she recently opened her own production company, TPH Entertainment, to give women of color an opportunity to share their stories and to be represented in the entertainment industry.

Thank God for Alice Walker and her words. My 31 year old Daughter has yet to see the original movie. I have encourage her to read the book first, then watch the 1985-86 movie after which she and I will see the new movie together hopefully along with my Husband and Son. In 1985-86 I was in graduate school and having a hard time of it. But seeing " The Color Purple" and listening to Whitney Huston sing " The Greatest Love of All" changed my life. I decided that I had to define who I was and determine my own destiny. Spiritual growth is the hardest challenge that we will face but it means that we must surrender our lives to God's will and learn to live in that will. Our purpose is to win souls to Christ and we cannot do that if we don't let God live inside of us. Thanks to all of you. May you continue to let God bless your life and let His light shine through each of you.

I work for a company, and we have certain networks within the company that support DEI. I am a proud member of BEN (Black Employee Network). In every state, we are having a watch party. I am in the Atlanta Division, and it is approximately 20 of us. Along with some of our family members, me with my 14 year old granddaughter will be getting together to watch this amazing rendition of this Iconic movie on the 29th, I can't wait. I am also going to take my mom, who I care for, to see it on Christmas day She has mild to moderate Alzheimer's, but she enjoys going to the movies.

The book, the movie profoundly affected me. My life has been full. Never dreamed that I would travel and live in Africa and find myself helping women that are forgotten. Never dreamed I'd marry a Ghanaian. I remember being in Malawi and seeing the dugout boats thinking that our ancestors were taken from this continent. The little school girls in 2006 asking me to ask Miss Winfrey to get them beds. I currently do missions of mercy to Africa.
