Just want to point out that 1. Thais don't really use the following phrases in daily life. GOOD MORNING: อรุณสวัสดิ์ (a-loon-sa-wad) 0:48 ->We just say สวัสดีค่ะ/ครับ (sa-wad-dee ka/krub). GOOD NIGHT: ราตรีสวัสดิ์ (la-tri-sa-wad) 0:57 ->Instead, we say ฝันดี (fun-dee) ฝัน meaning "dream", ดี meaning "good". GOODBYE: ลาก่อนค่ะ/ครับ (la-gorn-ka/krub) 1:06 ->You can just say บาย (bye). 2. These three are used a lot! HELLO: สวัสดีค่ะ/ครับ (sa-wad-dee ka/krub) 0:36 THANK YOU: ขอบคุณค่ะ/ครับ (kob-khun-ka/krub) 1:49 EXCUSE ME/SORRY: ขอโทษค่ะ/ครับ (kor-toad-ka/krub) 2:22 3. น้ำ (nahm) = water ห้องน้ำ (hong-nahm) = bathroom with ห้อง (hong) meaning "room". So ห้องน้ำ literally means "water room, a room where you use water". Another example is ห้องนอน (hong-nawn), which means "bedroom". นอน (nawn) means "to sleep". So ห้องนอน literally means "sleep room, a room where you sleep in".

I like this language! :) As a Mexican, my mother tongue is Spanish and I also grew up with English and now I'm at an intermediate level of Japanese so if I'm able to go through with Japanese (which I think is one of the Top 5 most difficult languages) I know I'll be able to learn Thai. I'm excited 😀. Also, LOVE how this language has its own unique alphabet! Very few languages have that :)

Thank you for this video. It is good to have the English way of speaking translated for us. In England we do say “Good Morning” “Good Afternoon, Good evening” and “Good night”. We would not say “We are going to bed” to a stranger and if we said it to a friend or family member we would say “I am going to bed, Good Night”. This is not a lesson in how Thai people speak to each other, it is a lesson in translating the words the English use when they talk to each other and that is why it is so good. Thank you for the video, I have downloaded it and I am already getting on better when I use the basic Thai taught. One other thing, I looked for the videos of the trolls who comment that you are doing it wrong, they had none. The reason we are watching a video is for pronunciation, writing corrections in the comments helps no-one, although I am sure it probably gives the commenters a very brief feeling of supremacy.

Never understood why they always teach you how to ask people if they speak English when learning a new language. If you ask them if they speak English in English and they speak English then they will know what you are saying and respond "yes" if they don't then they won't.

They always ask me if i speak thai so i always say-poot pasa thai mai dai na khrap. You would be amazed how many think i cant speak thai when i say that
@boojoogoo5 жыл бұрын
I think its just polite to ask in their own language otherwise it looks like you're assuming they speak english. but I get you.

In my openion,they want to preserve thier culture specially thier language because among all Asian countries,thailand is only country that was not colonized by other country.

Thank you! I'm going there this month for a few days, so I wanted to learn basic courtesy phrases :D
I'm sorry but there are some critical mistakes here. The "Good morning" words should spelled and pronounced with the R sound not the L. "A -Roon-Sa-wad" (not Loon) . Please make sure you pronounce the R correctly (almost like the RRRRR in Spanish but softer). Also "Good night" is Ra-Tri-Sa-wad" (not LA) which you should also pronounce the RRRRR very prominently not the L with the tongue sticking out. You may have heard some people from Thailand using the thick tongue L sounds but that's grammatically and phonetically NOT correct (some thais may think this is a modern way to pronounce it this way based on how teenagers speak which to me is a lack of education) . If you intended for this video to be educational. I strongly recommend you set a correct example. Thank you and keep up the good work.
