It was hilarious while editing this video noticing Sujy confused the whole time, lol! I think her being Thai add to the confusion compare to me, a Canadian that was a teenager in the late 90s. But at the end, I agree with Sujy that this seems like a good tv program to learn German. What do you think?

Most definitely... probably in part because of the TV chanel this is from: KiKa (Kinder Kanal: Childrens Chanel) The German (state) childrens TV. The chanel is in part supposed to teach young children on a kindergarden to ~end of elementary school level while being entertaining. And as part oif that would b e basic language skills it definitely is a good start to learn the language. Luckily some of the program is made to be at least interesting to adults (parents) so even as a foreign language student the chanel has some good parts.

Bernd is supposed to be funny while also teaching kids certain things. For example in this clip he is completly ignorant of nerds and sees in in a bad way, like you noticed it in the 90s. Therefore he is send trough multiple nerdy hobbies for our amusment and his anger until he ends up with something that he likes himself only to get shown that he can be a nerd too. So it is much more inclusive in its idea in the end. Also he is allways in a bit of a fight with the studio voice and its a back and force between them as a returning joke thorugh all of his clips.

Bernd das Brot IF your comunity is based on uneducated kids ... actually ´´Bernd das Brot´´ is famos for its corruption skandal ! it was produced for public tv by new management , was totally overpriced and many millions of € tax mony have been slaundered . after that the public television channel for kids in germany was to poor to produce or buy better movies so they had to use this series to fill the nighttime. thoose stupid brats that like ´´Bernd das Brot´´ are doubled damaged cause they couldnt even have propper childs tv in their childhood 😢poor & stupid generation Z

This episode was indeed about teaching children that there is nothing wrong with being a nerd, because everyone is a nerd about something. And Bernd, being a loaf of bread, doesn’t like fuss, so he’s a nerd for woodchip wallpaper, which he just likes to stare at for a long time. By the way, pretty much all the people you see there are also real nerds who were invited to take part.

Bernd das Brot, is a German Late Night Series on the German Children TV programm called KIKA. I was terrified by him as a child when i first saw him. He is a depressed German bread.

Bernd was invented by Tommy Krappweis, a multi instrumentalist, singer, composer, producer,... Recommended to look out for him.

I don't know, if you know this already, but the Bernd das Brot Nightloops are supposed to feel like Bernd is talking to the viwer directly. His main motivation is that he thinks he can leave once nobody is watching. The intent behind the nightloops is easily explained: To entertain but also remind children that stayed up past their bedtime that it is, in fact, past their bedtime. And while it is meant for Children, Bernd has a larger following of adults. He's kinda like a german Squidward, if you will. He also DOES have his own Spongebob and Patrick, basically, but I think their appearances are already over. Though they do get a small cameo in another nightloop or two.

Anyone would probably be depressed if something like that were done to themselves. Bernd has no chance of shaping his own life ;-)), he is constantly being pushed into a variety of roles! Luckily it's unreal, although sometimes I feel like I'm being "controlled" ;-)).

If you compare SpongeBob to Bernd das Brot, personality wise: Bernd das Brot is cynical like Squidward. Chili das Schaf is energetic like SpongeBob. Briegel der Busch is techy like Sandy.

KIKA is a TV channel for kids, that belongs to public servic broadcast in Germany. The channel has the "normal" kids shows from 6 am to 9 pm. From 9 pm to 6 am you can see Bernd das Brot, who originally was created as a kind of mascot for the channel by comedian and producer Tommy Krappweis. Thinking of its air time you can see that it's not really a kids show. ;) Imagine the following: You're on a party, have been drinking alcohol an get home early morning. You turn the TV on to relax a bit, but due to the time and the alcohol you fall asleep. Then you wake up, still a little drunk, and see this show. 🤣

The story of Bernd das Brot is a little more convoluted. At first, there was Tolle Sachen (Marvelous Things) a small series starring Chili the Sheep, a stunt sheep. She likes explosions and dangerous machines, which are invented by Briegel the Shrub, a glasses-wearing green bush. To test all his inventions for Chili, they had Bernd das Brot as a guinea pig. Hence his bad mood and his constant longing for peace, tranquility and boredom. One of his most loved occupations is staring at a wall and memorizing the pattern of the woodchip wallpaper. With time, the three went through several iterations of children's programming, until Bernd became the central figure in the Children's Channel night loop. The robotic arm at the beginning puts Bernd in the scene in most nightly loops. In this case, it is instead putting a magician into the scene, who then conjures Bernd, thus Bernd's remark: "This is new." A running gag in all night loops is that Bernd can't leave the TV screen. Whenever he tries to run into the off, he immediately reenters the screen from the other side. PS: The Dungeon Master in the role playing scene is one of the inventors of Bernd das Brot, Norman Cöster. The other one is the Magician from the beginning of the show, Tommy Krappweis.

KIKA is a channel only for kids. They have programm between 6:00 and 21:00. Later than 21:00 they have Bernd, das Brot in an endless loop. Okay... not endless, it ends at 6:00.

Hello to Thailand from Germany! Well, a friend of mine who was born in Spain learned german as a child of three years old by watching "sesamy street"! (I guess you know it!?) Btw: In Germany foreign shows or films are not shown with subtitles but synchronyzed. That`s funny. So "Bernd, das Brot" could also help learning german/ deutsch! 😆🤣

Here's some context: Because Bernd's "home channel", Ki.Ka, is made for children, its regular programme stops at 9 PM. To fill the broadcasting gap, they created the "Bernd das Brot nightloops" that are specifically addressed to older viewers that are awake after 9 PM, in which Bernd is forced to be funny while trying to escape the screen. While Bernd was originally invented for a children's programme, he had a lot of subversive traits many Germans can relate to from the beginning. Since 2003, several night loops have been created. The one you're reacting to is actually from 2013! ;)

😢Exactly because from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. this continuous loop was running and I was always afraid because this bread always said, so Bernd is switching off, switching off from now on

this was never for children, it was fot late teenies. bernd das brot appeared in the eatly 2000's after the main programm was over, way after ren and stimpy, which is also not really for children. it was that time when tv channels ended for the night. so you could see a burning fireplace for the night or bernd das brot. it was made for telling you to turn off the tv or switch to another channel. maybe you should watch the very first episode to understand. bernd always requests you to turn off the tv or switch to another programm..

For Explanation: The meaning is, we are all Nerds in some kind of way. There is no raeson why you insult someone. I am German and follow krappweiß, one of the creators loosly. Is a nice guy.

I got introduced to it in a weird way: maybe you know about Europe's biggest hacker association, the Chaos Computer Club? They have an annual Chaos Communication Congress in differing locations with something like 10k-20k visitors in the later years. In one of my earliest visits in the early 00s (in the Berlin Congress Center at that time), at night, someone hooked up his laptop to the projector in the big hall (1500 seats) and played episodes of it all night, just like it did on KiKa TV. So it's fair to say it's not just for kids.
