I live in Sanameng Sansai, which is in Chiangmai province. I go back and forth from the U.S. to Thailand often. I'm in California right now with my Thai girlfriend and we'll be back in Chiangmai at the end of April. I was watching your video and just so you know, if your friend in the video is Thai, she doesn't need a passport to go to Chiangmai. All she needs is her Thai national I.D. card, if traveling by plane, train, or bus. If traveling privately, by car for example, she doesn't need her I.D. or passport, for travel in Thailand. If she is from an ASEAN member country, Philippines for example, she doesn't need a visa, but she does need a valid passport to legally enter Thailand.

@tranostv I'm currently in Vietnam, however, I spend a lot of time in ChiangMai. The information I gave you is the usual case. Thai Immigration in ChiangMai is a few blocks from the entrance to the airport on the same side of the road. Before you leave your present location, find Thailand Immigration online and check. I know for sure you can visit since you have a valid passport. Check the details for her ability to do domestic travel.

All people, foreigners or Thais, if you are already enter Thailand, you can travel anywhere in the country without passport.... The fact that she thought she needed passport to go to Chiang Mai, is silimar to when we say; we need passport to travel from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. What the heck!!!
