Thai National Anthem in the street

No matter where you are in Thailand everyday at 8am and 6pm you have to stand still and respect the Thai national anthem.

In Thailand if you don’t want to stand up it’s up to you and depends on you guys but we are stand up for respect all Thai people who sacrificing his own life to protect Thailand to be independent country until today as we proud to do this by the way . Wonderful isn’t it? I think many countries don’t pause if their national anthem plays because their perspective on Nationalism totally differs from Thailand. Let me share this to you, in my country (Philippines) it only plays the anthem two days a week: monday (hoistering of flag) and on friday (lowering of flag). The reason for this is: Hoistering the flag on mondays symbolizes the first day of Work for the country and lowering on Friday symbolizes the end of work for the whole week but of course the system runs even on weekends. It’s only a symbolism. In terms of anthem playing, just like in Thailand, we are also mandated both by morality and law to respect our national identity like national anthem. Nationalism in Southeast Asian countries are unique. 😊

Let me rephrase that for you. Every countries on this planet pause everything and stand still when their anthem is played (ex. Olympics ceremony) But few countries in the world actually play their anthems as a routine twice daily in public like Thailand. I think only a few Asian nations does this.

wrong description in my opinion. you dont have to stand \, you WILL NOT get arrested for not standing, you could be walking and still not get arrested. We do this to honour the warriors that had fallen in the past and for the country, no one is forcing us :)
