I can appreciate your "Mango Girl" story. I had several port calls there from 88-93. Girls were genuine and generous with their time and food. I know it's a time long gone, but I like to reminisce. Thanks for sharing your stories, I am enjoying them.

hi Charlie, i believe your story about the "mango girl". in 1987 (!), i met a girl in patpong (bkk), i bought her a few ladydrinks... (long story, so i make it short) she told me "if you want me (we mostly talked with our "hands" and with the help her friends as my english isn't great and hers was nonexistent!), dont' barfine me...wait until the bar closed, and we'll go together"... i stayed with that girl for 3 weeks or so, she taught me my first thai words ( later on, i learnt it was isaan dialect!). she never asked me for money...but when i left to travel back home, i gave her "many hundred dollars" . she cried at the airport.... i don't know, i'm a bachelor and intend to remain so (i'm not young any more, anyway :-), but i think i fell in love. it took me a while to "forget" her. then for many reasons, i couldn't visit thailand ...i went back 10 years later, of course, that bar didn't exist any more...i just remember the girl's name "Ponn". i still keep some pics of her i made with my camera canon eon 600....
@dragon6727 жыл бұрын
Pique Dard Good post. Nice that you supported her financially.
@piquedard7 жыл бұрын
hi Dragon 67, thanks for your appreciation, but nowadays this kind of story belongs to the past , i reckon! i speak more or less thai now thanks partially to "Ponn". we are in 2017, "things" have changed and although i still enjoy visiting thailand, sex with those single minded ladies as far as money is concerned, doesn't interest me....

&&MrStifleras&& thanks! i'm more "cautious" now when i visit that part of our universe, i mean thailand and the philippines as the world seems harder, the girls more professional and money is the base of any relationship. i don't think i'd meet another girl in the sex industry like Ponn (not that i wish it, anyway:-). nowadays, i enjoy sitting in a bar beer , listening at the locals's chat in order to improve my thai while sipping quietly a singha. no gogo bars&disco visits, no barfines!

I first went there in 1979 and stayed at Siam Bayshore for 12 dollars per night then. The walking street was just compacted dirt. And there was nothing else there. Second road was a dusty track and Beach Road had hardly anything other than Walking Street. Back then I also met a girl who gave me 5 days for no money. Ive been back about 10 times since, over 38 years and seen it changing into the ugly concrete place it is now, and the attitudes and manner of the girls has changed equally. Of course, they are the grand daughters of the original girls. I became addicted to the whole thing, as a lot of guys do, and luckily managed not to destroy my whole life over it. I remained in UK and just visited Thailand. Whenever I dream of my trips there, it is always of my early trips and I find when visiting now that Im somehow looking for the feelings I got back then. But now Im old and its all lost forever and moved on. I was absolutely in love with the whole scene there. They tell me this is down to a scientifically proven phenomenon called The Coolidge Effect. Look it up.
@CheapCharlieChronicles7 жыл бұрын

Big f'kin trays of eggs have to be worth looking at. In Lotus you get a ludicrous tray of about forty for very little money, but they're almost impossible to carry. If you crack two or three into the bottom of a bowl and dump a load of steaming starch on top of them you can whisk them through and they'll cook instantly - if the rice/pasta is really hot.

I just had 1 month holiday in chiang mai 3 month ago. And I had the same experience. Met a tinder girl and paid her for first night 1000b. But she liked me (I am 22 and she was 28 and hot) and stayed with me 1 month for no charge. Had a incredible cool holiday with her. Together in chiang mai , Pai , Bangkok, Ko Phangan , Ko Samui. And in all the weeks , she paid sometimes the restaurant, paid her own laundry , paid her own hair cut and other stuff. 1 month pure gf feeling with no cash included with a freelance girl. It still happens today , not only 15 years ago. Its over and I found a new true gf only 4 weeks after my holiday in my own country germany. But the 1 month in thailand was still magic and beautiful.

PEACE! I was thinking of moving thee for retirement.. I just met a beautiful Thai lady here in the states, dark and beautiful!!! At a restaurant, i sort of felt it before I went into the restaurant, we talked, she told me to come back, and i am planning to do so! I like more common, down to earth people, I am naturally down to earth cause my mom's side is country, but I am also somewhat sophisticated in my thinking and cultured from my 30+ years of ancient research, study and spirituality... I think I may be open to her and when we started talking about Nature, Thailand, life, she opened up pretty good, the smiles are fabulous, shook hands, WOW soft skin, dang, I didn't know I like those Thai gals!! lol ha ha ha ;-D Life is what you make it!!! Peace and Love!!!!

you speak of the good old days back in 2005, and when 2 young Americans were a rarity there...Let me take you back to the prehistoric days then... I was in the Marine Corps in 1983 and we were coming into Thailand for some R&R before going back to Beirut, Lebanon. We actually did a 2 day operation with the Thai Marines on land, Some of the toughest troops we ever trained with. As as we were doing training exercises young children would come up to us with soda and ice in a small plastic sandwich bag with a straw sticking out of it wrapped tightly with a rubber-band, it was truly one of the only countries, were you could feel the love of the people, not hate, not anger .It also turned out us being there delayed or stopped a coup attempt. After that we were given a 96.. 4 days in Pattaya in 1983, before it was spoiled...let me tell you it is one of my best memories... The first day we went and checked out all the hotels and bars to get a idea were to go, as the next day was payday, and we wanted a head start that next morning.. As we waited for the landing craft to take us back to the ship, two beautiful Thai girls walked up and asked us why we were going back to boat so early? Me and my buddy told them we wanted to eat and shower and we had no money until pay tomorrow.. The girl looked at me and said we have food and shower back at bungalow... well needless to say we barley made it back to our boat and almost missed movement. they wanted nothing from us but us and we as a couple had the best 3 days of my life. I am 55 now and never forgot her or the beautiful people there... when I retire I will return there. I know its changed 300 % but it is still a beautiful country and people

I don't eat small meals, I load up on the carbs so I eat 2 or 3 times the rice than a person who just eats a rice with meat and other stuff. I also eat all day, easily get in 2,500-3,000 calories.
