Hi my name is Lilly and I am an American expat living on the island of Koh Samui in the gulf of Thailand for the last 9 years. My husband is Thai and his name is Wat. I traveled Thailand in 1982 when I finished adopting my Thai daughter who was two years old. I was in changmai for a few days and loved it there, so beautiful. I had to finish all the legal stuff with the Thai government and get passport through American embassy. Took 2 years to finalize my adoption. I traveled all over Thailand to see the country , I went to ocean also. Very intense, busy 6 weeks. What a experience. I lost 30 pounds because I could not eat most of their food. I was alone and from Kansas City. Finally got to bring my daughter home to Kansas. She is now age 42 married to American man & they have 2 boys in junior high and high school. I adopted her through the international adoption agency named Holt adoption agency out of Oregon. Thailand is amazing but you have to be very careful too, I was alone and did not know the language. Their food was not for me, not very clean.

I went and saw the opium fields in northern Thailand where they grow and sell their drugs to the world. The people sew beautiful colorful garments by hand. I went through real jungles getting there. I could write a book about the good and bad of Thailand. I remember it all from my trip in 1982.
