I was there 2004. Some of the men with only young boys aged 18. Really sad but also amazing. Watched the film before I saw the bridge. So made it even more touching. I too would say that anyone going to Thailand should make that trip.

Great vid Kev. I went on Remembrance Sunday in 1999. Did a day tour from my Bangkok hotel. Cost about 1500b and was the best trip I have ever done in Thailand. The salvation army, and the British ambassador go every year so if you go again I recomend Remembrance Sunday.

Dont apologise kev .i was there in 2015 and yes it is a very emotonal place to go , your blokes copped the worst of it and ours were near behind .The loss of young life is terrible all those young men who never had a chance to have a life as you point out from the ages if you get a chance watch the railway man video and if you can get it read some of the stories in a book called "men of the line " but now they lie in a place of peace .

Well done Kev in showing your emotional side. You don't have to say sorry for it at all, as I have been to that very same cemetery many times and it always gets me. One headstone will always stick in my mind, it was of a 19 year old English lad whose job was to sort out the mail and deliver it to the troops. Very sad indeed. "We Will Remember Them"
@KevInThailandpat19 жыл бұрын
+Brian Jones Thanks for your comment Brian, 19 years old my god, The youngest i saw was 20 years old, Not men just boys that were forced to grow up too quickly by war and ended up there just for delivering mail, No compassion in war just death and hardship ?

Very sombre day we spent there Kev. One thing that struck me was how many men in their late twenties and early thirties died there. I thought they must have been part of the regular Army in Singapore. Along with our visit to S27 and The Killing fields in Cambodia they were both very sombre and sobering experiences. One thing that happened while we were at the cemetary was a party of Japanese schoolchildren turned up. The were running all over the graves laughing and joking. I know they were only children and would not know the importance but it made me very angry.

very difficult and emotional blog for you to make Kev I can not entirely relate to how you felt as I also have been 2 Auschwitz on several occasions where a number of my relatives spent the last few days of their lives it's one thing to see it on the news reels and films but nothing can prepare you when you actually see it with your own eyes the suffering that these people must have enjoyed is something you cannot imagine
