In my humble opinion, you are overspending..I lived in CM for over a year a few years ago. My monthly expenses were the following: Fully furnished studio in a building with a pool $200, Groceries $120 kept it very simple, GYM $30 a month, internet/phone $30, electricity+water $50, Protein Powder $40, Drinking water $5, I would dine out once a month $12....I don't drink alcohol nor any other party favor unless with the right girl...I have learned how to party without wasting money in that area..So a total of $487-500 a month counting transportation as I would walk to most places(Important to hydrate, have a backpack with deodorant, a clean t-shirt, perfume)...

To threaten a man when he is on your turf away from his home is an act of cowardice and is shameful. I was thinking about going back to Colombia but now I'm having second thoughts. That was a disgrace! They abused and used them claim to be Christian. There are no rooms in heaven for cowards. I think they are a hyper legalistic cult. Their love is fake and do was hers. She wasn't ready for marriage. Sounds like a Jezebel.

I wouldn't buy a motorbike because in Jomtien I can walk everywhere I go routinely (or Grab or Bolt it, or baht bus). I eat street market food and 7-11 drinks/bananas/yogurts when there. My apartment will have its own gym- so no gym fee. I will visit the Ayuttayah's, Kanchanaburi's and tourist islands. I don't drink. I don't go to girlie bars. I don't smoke. And my rent should be between $250 and $450 USD a month. Naturally I will try to get to Cambodia and Da Lang, Vietnam, etc. Few X year knowing me.

@@WheresWes My Soc. Sec. monthly will barely be over $900 USD w/ the expected 3% 2024 cost of living increase. Average year (not counting pandemic) I make another $5,000'ish a year writing & editing. So my apt. price range is $295-$495 USD. But I don't drink alcohol or know how to drive a motorbike. I'd have to live off what @johnwilmer2047 pays.

If you have an accident with a moto taxi, your travel insurance won’t cover it, and that could turn your stay into a nightmare. I’ve seen it time and time again. Give that some thought.

Thanks for the video and sharing, last year (2023), I live in Jomtien by Pattaya for 6 months and I budgeted around $3K a month and that's with a companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week without buying any LDs and barfines. I didn't eat any western food and only Thai foods in the market. Not smoking any weeds/cigarettes and even chewing tobacco. In my early 50s, I was planning to retire but changed my mind in a very last minute. Back to work in sunny Cali and if America is getting worst, I might retire in LOS or Philippines late next year.

If I was still in my 20s, I wouldn't mind to have a budget like this.. but if I was to give up living in the west as a Gen X for SEA or Latin America, my quality of living should be drastically better than the US. I would probably target $3k/mo with extras for traveling to other cities/neighbor countries such as taking trips to Koi Samui once a while, etc. Also given the fact you haven't factor dating yet.. btw Muy Thai + Jujitsu is a deadly weapon that would get you to win almost most of the street fights vs any untrained fighters..

Wow Wes I felt your story with your wife. One I lived with a girl in Colombia, Borgata. Language and interference for her sister bf ended it for me. In Canada I was engaged to an Asian girl in Canada who was too close to her gf and was neglected then cheated on and ultimately had several attempts on my life, some very close calls. I had to leave my job and my place and flee to another city leaving everything behind. I'm a Christian and have been involved in cults. What they did was not Christian. Cults are very deceiving and con with supposed love but what you got was straight abuse. That was disgraceful behaviour for which they have never repented. They were also vindictive. Your wife was not a Christian wife. She is in error and so was the church.bwhenbteo people marry they become one and leave their parents. She did not do this. She did not fulfill her vows. You were attacked and I strongly suspect you entered a legalistic, hypocritical cult. God says vengeance is mine. They have no fear of the Lord but they will soon. God bless. I will pray to Jesus for justice. What they did was disgraceful and a horrible testimony to Jesus. They had no shame.
