It sure makes life easier when you apply a bit of oil on a chain to remove a link ! Over the years Ive seen too many farmers fight with things when a drop of oil can change everything ! A short story about that...... A neighbor asked me to help him move the hubs out on his M Farmall for a mounted picker. He spent half a day beating on the hub with a sledge hammer ! Then asked me to help. I met him with an oil can. He was furious when I applied oil to the axle of the tractor. Then.... I manually pulled it off with the help of a 4x4 chunk of wood. Still......to this date hes never asked me to help him again! Some farmers refuse to adapt to simple changes !

I hear you. Where I work we get penetrating oil in 55 gallon barrels. I'm a believer that you can use to much but I also try to clean up the excess. Thanks for watching and your comment.

I think my combine is set to that bigger sprocket down at the bottom of the feeder house for corn and beans. I’ve never changed it anyhow.
@TAHDAHFarm6 жыл бұрын
My neighbor has a 6620 and he only has the one sprocket also. John Deere must have made a change and did't see the need to put that on the 6620.

@@TAHDAHFarm my 6620 has the twin sprocket like one in the video, not sure if I should change it from corn to beans or not?

One other thing is to slow the variable speed feeder house all the way down.
@TAHDAHFarm6 жыл бұрын
I didn't think to say anything about that till I went to disconnect the hoses to put the head on. Thats when I checked it but it was already slowed down.

TAH-DAH Farm I usually remember after the hoses are hooked up and full of pressure.

I didn't run the speed up with the corn this year because it was so dry. I had watched a video about header speed and they were saying to keep it as slow as you can to not cause butt shell damage.
@sweetfarmsllc88866 жыл бұрын
No need to change the speed on the feeder house, just run the same sprocket as corn. You wont notice any difference. Saves the headache of screwing around with the chain.

Thanks, I purchased the combine last year and was told it was set up for beans. I found it was set for corn when I was setting up for corn last fall. So I set it up for beans when doing this video. I'm going to switch it back because the auger was running faster. I liked it better last year. Thanks for the comment.

Okay I have one more question how do you set the fan speed 🤔 Again
@TAHDAHFarm2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the 4400 is like the 6600 other fan adjustment. Follow the beltt from the fan back to the adjustable shive. There is a round knob to the right of that adjustable shive that will change the belt size. The knob has a long bolt that will change the bar that will push in on the side of the adjustable shive. The further in you go the faster the fan will go. There are several grease zerts on that fan. If they have not been greased, you may not be able to adjust it. Hopefully this will help you.

Omg brother you reply omg I just realized that but yeah you were right last year it was so much easier and not only that but the video was right on everything was the same way

I forgot to say something about the feeder speed. But my corn was so dry I ran it in speed slow so I didn't butt shell any.

Have you ever resealed the variable feeder drive? Can I do this while it's on the combine? 420 rpm is all I can get out of it right now mine is a 79 6620
@TAHDAHFarm4 жыл бұрын
My manual shows that the Feeder House Conveyor drive shaft is 308rpm at the slow speed but I do not know what hi speed is. The Feeder House chain is 418fps. With beans you are to run it at the slowest speed to not cause damage to the cutter bar, and for me in corn I haven't really speeded it up much if any. So, I'm not sure if 420rpm is a problem. Mine also has Grease fittings on it that I can grease every 100 hours or once a year. So I just give it several shots agrees or till I hear coming out. I haven't had any problems with it to have to reseal. Sorry I can't help any more than that.

This hole time the problem was I forgot to reset my chin to beans

John Deere is now saying that you don't need to change the feeder chain but I still do. However, my new to me 6620 has not been changed and is frozen up. So I did not change it this year. O well.
