Thalassemia is hbpathy ineffective erythropoesis rather than hemolysis

Normoblasts undergo hemolysis which doesn't contain Hb, so no jaundice

Correction.. RDW will not be increased in TM.

May be mildly increased in TM too. Lot of evidence and papers there behind that.. Hence a parameter called RDW index was proposed.
