I watched this movie with subs.... editing is great but not pacing... I felt bored a few times during the movie... it's actually a very simple story (if u linearize it) that's told in an extremely convoluted way so that most characters come in a with a fight... I'm not a malayali and imo the movie wasn't too great... just good... Although editing and style is quite different the whole story has no point and is not hard hitting... just abt how wazim met the girl, how they got back together, and the events (fights) that happened in between.

the best part about this movie is it's uniqueness, despite we always having a vibe of something else and the things which y'all mentioned regarding it's style, it's tonality and the style of the entire movie is so unique, you always end up liking it which makes you come back to rewatch this again

I found this movie average on my first watch and watched it a few more times after that. Fell in love with this movie since then. We always have this stereotype about how a movie should be, story, twist etc. Man, these guys nailed it with the style, editing, direction, storytelling and the vibe. Thats a new genre in itself for me ❤

Jaby did say the title closest to how it pronounced. 99% accurate. Thallumala just means Thallu= fight, beat down...malla: means garland but in this context means something like a saga.

I genuinely feel Malayalam is the only cinema which should be at top when it comes to indian cinema but unfortunately what we see is just commercial movies are making a way and the audience is again being trapped with some bad theories of dividing cinema etc..

A movie is made of content (story/plot)+ form(how the story is told). 80% movies which we consider as a good movie have a plot that gets the audience hooked. This is a movie were the plot is waferthin(intentionally). The focus here is how to tell the thin story engagingly- which is the harder to do. The story telling in this movie is so creative with the edits, cinematography,action choreography, costumes & the transitions. It's a unique movie just for the experimental form of it & extremely self aware.
