@@mikeuk4130 He is you know. People talk about the so called greats but to those of us who can play guitar, I can assure you that many of them are over rated, technically. The pentatonic, repeat ad nauseum players. Honestly, all the so called "classics", Stairway, Hotel California, Freebird etc, etc. Beautiful songs they may be, playing them really isn't that difficult. Johnny on the other hand, not only does he have his own unique sound, but technically some of his songs can be difficult to play. Just an opinion. I just love any guitar based music, long may it last.

As a former Mancunian guitar player/song writer, in bands of that era, this is a must. I thought I was pushing the boat out with 8 guitars, so this is also reassuring to see so many. Nice and a bit weird to see at least some of John's selections in my own collection: a black and white Rick and a Gibson 355. I also have a few Resonators along with a good value 12 string Gretsch that does Bunnymen as well as Byrds covers quite melodically. Thanks Johnny for giving access to your private collection.

I was never interested in music or guitars but I got this book for my birthday sometime last year. My girlfriend said it could be our coffee table book. Fast forward to today, and if you enter my room you will see a wall of guitars. I've got beautiful Les Pauls, Rickenbackers, Fender Jaguars, a few vintage Mustangs, acoustics, you name it. All in all I bought 34 guitars. My girlfriend thinks I am crazy and she regrets giving me the book, lol. I convinced her that I only need one more guitar, and we made peace for now. I still don't play any instrument, guitar included. I just like staring at my guitar wall and admiring the beauty of them. But I have discovered the Beatles. I am only 19 and filthy rich, so perhaps, some day I will become a musician or something?

I think Johnny meant more as a big chord with some gain kinda rock. The Beatles didnt really use Rickenbackers in stuff like say Helter Skelter; they were more used for what was essentially their swingy 'pop song' beginnings. Not to say the Beatles didn't rock, it's just that the ricks weren't the guitars they used to do that period.
