The Commissioner, Catherine Bramwell-Booth, being interviewed on the Parkinson Show in the early 80's said that she prayed that she would loved to have reached 100 years old. Thanks be to God, this Godly lady scored 104 years before she was promoted to Glory. My Grandfather wouldn't even offer money to his OWN Denomination, because he felt the money was misappropriated. He would FREELY donate to the Salvation Army, because the Soldiers and Officers were doing Christian good works ON THE STREET, helping those who REALLY needed it...THAT'S Christian charity and how the Christian church should operate. Glory be to the Salvation Army...Thank you for your work, Commissioner ❤❤❤

My Grandfather was raised in the Anglican (Church of Ireland) tradition. He was a polio patient, but loved getting to the local Pub of a Saturday night, to meet with his friends. He definitely didn't get stinking drunk, but he LOVED meeting the local Salvationists. The Salvation Army visited the local pubs and the people who were socialising therein, and earned respect and kindness....The Salvation Army was the ONLY Christian denomination that my Granda would subscribe to....Simply because they are/were kind people, INTERESTED in people! May God bless the Salvationalists ❤❤❤

Im an American. Im 61 for reference. My mother who never even tasted alcohol, used to go to bars and pass out the US version of The War Cry. People would donate and take the magazine. She said nobody ever abused them in any way.

loving watching these lovely ladies brings back so many memories. Olive worshiped at our small corp. When we emigrated to Australia we had to go as a family to have afternoon tea with them in this room. At 14yrs that was a bit terrifying but a great thing to look back on

Remarkable. These three women aged well into their 90s, so passionate, practical and erudite. Fascinating. I always give to the Salvation Army when I see them.

Amazing recording, what beautiful servants of the Lord. I don't think the interviewer is Esther Rantzen though.

I think Michel Parkinson started interviewing two of these at xmas every year; at least one of them got to 100 and was still very lively and coherent.

The Salvation Army has probably changed from all recognition in over forty years. I was impressed with the message of those wonderful ladies, even then, that the Salvation Army had to change to suit the changing world!

I wish they would have stood their ground. In the States, they have embraced the culture and focus too much on the money. They still do good things with the money, but I grew up in the Army and they need a return to the strictness of yesterday.

Infiltrated by Freemasons . Horrendous. But they do still do good work on the ground that no others do or are able to do.
