Never saw an interview with her, and she seems so current and delightful. She talks of events about 50 years earlier, and now this interview is about 50 years old. But so sharp, quick, and wonderful. Makes the silent era seem so real, not just a flickering dream.

What a wonderful, friendly, charming energy she had. So cheerful and engaging. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a star leaning forward like during an interview. She looked so eager and open.

She’s wonderful! So indefatigable and full of laughter. Such a shame the interview isn’t longer. She had a very long career as well, 68 years in film.

This is wonderful. So many of Bessie's films are lost. But the ones we have left we must preserve and restore.

Bessie Love was one of the success stories of the silent era. A great star, she managed her own career and changed with the times. She worked steadily for her entire life--an eight decade career.

What an utterly charming lady. Given time, I think she could have told a lot of great stories. I'm amazed she never made it to Parkey's show on the Beeb in the seventies as she is surely a chat show host's dream guest. Nice to see a younger Judith Chalmers, too.

Born Juanita Horton in Texas at the turn of the century, Bessie Love began her career in 1915 in the film studio of D.W. Griffen. She possessed an extraordinary beauty and an acting ability which rapidly established her as a major star of the silent era. When I was younger I loved the silent movies, it put me in a time warp, the etiquette of being in that place & time gave me an euphoria. Compared to today, that era seemed more irresistible

A somewhat nervous laugh. Bessie made all the right moves, unlike some Hollywooders. Never left England, after 1935, and still rests under a tree in Ruislip Cemetery.
