The whole episode, I was like "don't get too comfy" ... "don't get too much hope" ... "don't forget it's an 86 episode, you will cry anyway" ... but I dropped my guard with their slice of life tibits, and the post ending part came u__u

The tale of 86 is about love, loss, bravery, comraderie, and finding. The fact that the show masterfully hit all those beats in one powerful montage is not just a testament to the writing, but every aspect from direction, storyboarding, to animation, to music, to voice acting, and to sound design. The memory of Daiya wanting to change Anju's life for the better crushed me and the gut punch in the final seconds had me sitting silently, tears rolling down my cheeks, for literal minutes.

The artist love to use symbolism. but that leaf you see 5 branches of the leaf 4 look good but 1 is wilting. It is symbolic that shin isn't doing well. It is frequently done with birds as well you may see 5 or a single bird symbolizing something.

the fido flashback is around 7 mins long which is also how long your brain will stay active after you die, it is also like your life flashes before you eyes when you are about to die as fido goes through memories in chronological order.

Not completely. Some parts of the scene were in the novel (I'm not sure, but probably I saw some of them in the Alter 1 short stories too). They're just cut/extended and redirected into Fido's memories.

@@DarkNexus530 The beginning of the episode was in Volume 10, and the author themselves said they couldn't include everything they wrote in the novel, so they probably shared some extra material with anime creators. Anyways, I see everything in anime as canon
