Hope the relationship has been mended since all the drama. As an Iowan it was great to see what you guys were able to accomplish together. I hope Gannon finds success wherever he may go, and may another bright star fill his place. End of an era

Super classy video. I hope this helps to heal some wounds on all sides, plus help bridge the gap that may exist between prodigy disc and potential customers. I’ll be the first to admit that when News first broke last year, I was very quick to place judgment on prodigy. After a few months it became clear that it was a mistake to place that blame and judgment without a full picture of the story. I’m hopeful for the next stage in gannon’s career and prodigy’s next steps without him. Real classy video guys 👏

You know what might actually help? Then making something that actually resembled an apology. They've done nothing but attempt damage control while still maintaining to be completely right about everything, because they were careful enough to not put any of their promises in writing that way they could weasel their way out of it, but make sure that everything on his side was in writing... Because apparently exploiting a minor without a team of attorneys to dissect everything is more important than being people of integrity.

@@PirateDiscGolf-lk7ne Gannon tried to break his contract on flimsy grounds without seeking any sort of consult or reconciliation with prodigy. Prodigy did something somewhat powerful for disc golf manufacturers who historically have struggled with enforcing contracts. Now that “real money” is on the table with many contracts, this I think helps give some protections to smaller companies who find themselves in a situation where an up-and-comer decides on a whim that they can break their contract to find more money before satisfying their commitment. In the court filings by prodigy, it seemed pretty clear that the specific issues Gannon complained prodigy didn’t do were things that prodigy actually did do. While the issue of quality control and plastics were actively being fixed through new manufacturing. I don’t blame Gannon for wanting a more lucrative contract, but prodigy appears to have done their part

@@frisbeefrolf have you read or listened to exactly what both parties said? Because I have. And that's pretty much how it went. Gannon wanted released from his contract because they made multiple promises to him that they failed to keep. They refused to do anything about it and essentially told him too bad, you're under contract, and sued him AND his mother, since he was a minor and she had to cosign everything, and when he brought up the multiple things they promised, their reply was none of that was in writing so it's not legally binding. Disc Golf dot law did a few episodes on it as well. The ONLY thing they did was catch up on like $500 royalty payments that they were behind on.

@@PirateDiscGolf-lk7nethey presented the contract. It’s up to gannons guardian to hire lawyers. Nobody was exploited 🤣 his mom co-signed. She’s responsible enough to read the contract and hire lawyers if she wanted to. If Gannon wanted to be sure he got what he was verbally promised, he should’ve asked for it in writing. That’s cover your butt 101. Legally Gannon breached the contract, what else do you expect especially when big money starts being put on the line? Just for them to get away with it? Players need to be held accountable. Hire managers. Hire lawyers. It’s not like prodigy held him against his will and forced him to sign the contract without reading it. He agreed to it. He breached it. He got sued. Sounds reasonable to me

Hopefully making a 1 minute video showcasing 7 years of giving us your best will make people like us again."

How many other players in the history of this sport have even gotten a thank you video at all? There might be some but I'm genuinely unsure. Like it's fine to not like a brand, but at least say something that makes sense at least because usually it's a single twitter post with one picture lol..

@stephenschuessler4847 well, they sued him, and that obviously looks terrible for potential future pro players to want to sign with them, so they had to do something to gain some ground.

@scotthinkens7629 I can agree that suing someone probably won't look good for other players. But I will ask the question, "should it really look bad if we think about it logically vs emotionally"? In a sport trying to be professional and grow, you need contracts to be upheld or the teams and industry will die. No other sport would have let this slide. Also, which would you rather do if you were in this situation because there really was only two choices - take the potential hit to your image by suing a player who illegally broke contract? Or take the guaranteed hit to your image by letting a player under contract leave illegally, on top of the guaranteed loss of money by less a player under contract leave illegally? The logical answer is to do what they did imo. Prevent the guaranteed damage by suing and then work on addressing any potential damages by trying to improve relations with the public and the player.
