He's an astronaut but an astronaut from another planet actually. He crashed landed on Earth and experienced life on Earth but despite that, he still wanted to go back to his home planet. When he saw the beacon coming from his spaceship, he quickly went to it but while travelling he kept remembering his life on Earth and realized how happy he had been here with the people who loves him as well, that he doesn't need to go home because he's already found his home here and he decided to stay here for good. Earth/the girl represents Army. Jin is so sweet as always. I really liked the way Jin sang this song. It's not his usual belting voice but instead he uses more of his lower range voice and I totally loved it. Thanks for reacting to this song 💜

He's is a lone alien aka astronaut, an explorer of sorts, now stranded on earth when his ship crashed. He assimilated with humans and developed a kinship with a little human girl. But after a length of time, he saw a beam out of his window indicating his ship has "healed" and time to continue his journey. But he decided to stay, realising he has grown too attached to earth and no longer needs to explore the cosmos. He now found a home, and family. His leaving earth symbolises the hiatus Jin and the rest of BTS is taking but he is promising ARMY (represented by the little girl) that his attachment to ARMY will not cease, he will be back and here to stay.

Oh what a precious man and a beautiful song!! 😌🥹💜 As the first one of the group signing up to serve; I feel like he just wanted ARMY to have this song asap, as a reminder that he - and the others - are thinking of us and they’ll be back soon. 😊 It worked out nicely that Coldplay still happen to be on their world tour. 🪐 I’m confident that we will get a full album from Jin. He mentioned during the Festa dinner that he’s probably going to be the last of the 7 to release his, which makes sense to me. There’ll be so much hype when Jin gets out, and he’ll have his solo work to get back into the swing of things. RM is next, and then I’m guessing it could be Jimin or V.

I think you got the story of the MV wrong. In my interpretation is that: Jin was an alien astronaut that crash landed on earth in the opening scene. And since his ship was damaged, he had to live on earth for a while and befriended a little girl in the neighborhood. But one day, after the ship has completed repairing itself a beam of light appears , he planned to go back to the crash site and dressed up in a black suit to go. He meets the little girl on his way out so he gives his helmet to her for her to remember him by. but along the way he starts remembering the sweet moments with his friend and even the drawings she did showing him "home" on earth so in the end he decides not to go on the spaceship and hurry back home to the little girl instead that he now considers as family. In the last scene we hear the little girl's bike bells calling him to go out and play.

watch it again with the information that at the beginning his spaceship crashes to earth and he is an alien sheltered in the little girl's house. The little girl is the army. He wanted to go home but in the end he realizes that home is where the people he loves are. He will always come back to the one he loves, no matter the difficulty.

There was a movie, played by David Bowie, titled The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) about an alien who traveled to Earth from a distant planet. He experienced humanity and lived amongst human in disguised, derailed from his initial mission to bring back water to his own draught-ridden world. The ending was sad bc when the alien finally wanted to go back home, he was unable to, captured by the government and experimented on. He lived a long life and rich, but his stay on Earth ended up against his wishes and he was miserable. For me, the plot of Jin's MV for The Astronaut is the anti-thesis to the film where our out-of-world astronaut is free to choose to go back once his plane is repaired but optd not to because he has fallen in love with Earth, spesifically with humanity represented by the girl(BTS/ARMY). In the end, his stay is gratefully not coming out of coercion or despondency, but out of love, care, and his own decision.

Here is what I take away from this video; The little girl represents army and bts and his past, present and future. The spaceship is his possible future adventures such as going to the army. He does not want to leave BTS nor ARMYs . In this video I think if he could… He would NOT choose to go away from us…IF…IF…if he could choose. The helmet represents his protecting ARMYs as well as BTS, you can tell by the way he takes it from himself to protect her. BTS & ARMYs is his family. They are his universe. His whole world. No way would he leave them if he were free to choose. But that’s my belief in this video and only my opinion and point of view.
