If I'm not mistaken, the channel is Jewish. Simply put, they cannot write out the Name of God, so if you see it written as "G-d," you know the person writing (or editing, in this case) is Jewish. They are not afraid. It is a matter of reverence for them. By tradition, His Name is too holy to even be spoken aloud, let alone written out.
