Memory of Winston
Winston was a KING gorilla of San Diego past 30 years. He helps grew up many significant gorillas 🦍
He adapted Paul Donn who lost his father when he was 4. He is now silverback in San Diego Zoo. He also adapted Frank, Paul’s son.
He accepted Milt and Penny who were hand raised.
He also gives Jamani and Ajari family after their mother Ione died in young age.
I like to thank you San Diego Safari Park, all animal caretakers, volunteers, and veterinary.
I am grateful that Winston spent time with his family until end.

Grew up in England with 7 gorillas friends. Winston came to SD Safari Park when he was 12 years old. He took over Trib’s troop after he died, and Winston was 21 years old.

😢 My heart is 💔 broken to hear that my dear Winston has passed on. I started visiting when Winston first came to the zoo in 1993, so I grew very fond of him. Of all the silverbacks Winston was by far the most loving with the kindest temperament. He was very diligent watching over his family. Father to 9 children, and 8 grandchildren, he was truly a majestic gentle giant. RIP my beloved 🦍 Winston 😘. You will be greatly missed ❤🌹.

Winston came to the S.D. Wild Animal Park in 1984 at the age of 12. He lived there for 40 years and passed away on July 13,2024. As the leader of his troop Winston fathered nine offspring and displayed behavior rarely observed in silverbacks by adopting two unrelated male gorillas into the troop… RIP Winston 🦍you will be deeply missed!

Oh, Winston, I'm just now learning of your passing, and I'm devastated.😢Though we will all miss you terribly, you are now TRULY free! We may be a bit selfish because we're sad that we will no longer be able to continue to watch you be the great leader, husband, and father you've been for so many years, but we're also lucky to have so much footage of you with your family and, of course, will continue to love and watch your family. You had a certain look with your gorgeous face and those amazing eyebrows that gave you such a fearless appearance, but we also knew that you had an even bigger heart, which you demonstrated on a daily basis with your family. When he knocked you down, you quickly got back up and showed him who's boss, but you also understood that it was time for him to go and begin living his life as a King Silverback, just like you. Noooo! Oh, I knew this day was coming. I dreaded seeing this video pop up in my YT this morning, but we all must see our last day here on earth. Winston was in his later 40's when I first started watching him on Graces channel and I always loved watching him just sit and watch over his family. His family, with the exception of good ol' Frank, always respected and adored him. Seeing Winston just sit there, made the troop. You will be missed and thought of forever, Winston. 動画は20分くらいで作ろうと始めたのですが随分長くなってしまいました💦😅 ウィンストンと一緒に育った友人達がみんな子供に恵まれた訳でもなく　みんなが長生き出来たと言う訳でもないですがその中でウィンストンはみんなの分も生きてくれた気がして嬉しいです❤️😀🌸 ヒーターになってるところは2箇所あるのですが　ウィンストンはあそこがお気に入りで　時々取り合いになってましたw 通常はウィンストンが座るとみんな譲るのですがこの日は寒くコカモは譲りませんでしたw😆 ウィンストンの子供のキャバラや　インジョールもウィンストンパパのですがそっくりに思いますw いつか会いに行きたいです😃❤️🌷💕 コメントありがとうございました❤️💕❤️

Family is sad and zoo closed gorillas enclosure for a while so they can mourn. Since silverback is missing, family does not feel safe outside. We will see how they manage for new troop or family 😀🌸

At that time, it was Kokamo and Imani trying to squeeze next to Winston for the best seat on the floor heater 🤭. I wonder how/if another silverback will be integrated into the troop since Winston ruled for 30 years. I doubt if Frank would be considered although he isn't related to anyone in the troop except for grandma Kami (Kamilah). I wonder if any of Jessica's boys would be considered. I think Mandazzi would be a good fit, but for now the troop needs to heal, and it will take some time.

@@sonyawilson1000 Mandazzi is great gorilla but he will move to Kansas City zoo and will get 2 wives. And Imani will be his half sister and they need switching process too. I personally hope Monroe or Frank will be future silverback in San Diego Safari Park but they are still young, and at least Joanne and Leslie must move to other places in this case too. Most likely Paul will take care for a while this family (?!) I think San Diego wants silverback who is born San Diego. We will see how they make new troop. It is the way they can welcome completely new gorilla from other zoo, but in that case, it will take long time to be accepted by family. They have hierarchy, so old residence will think they are higher but silverback must be top. And it takes long time to gain trust relationships with them. We will see 😀

@@sonyawilson1000 I was just thinking Ajari will be great to come back too. He is grandson of Winston and he has Trib, Paul Donn’s bloodline too. He grew up in Safari Park and he is still bachelor 23 years boy ‼️ joanne and Leslie must be move but he may be great pick too😀
