To be the rock for my family aswell as my girl was rough but I could take it. But to then be betrayed by all of them when I needed some help was terrifyingly painfull. I sadly no longer talk with half my family. And to see my now ex not even trying was crushing. But we soldier on. Day by day. Slowly the light comes back and you rebuild untill one day it’s just a dark memory

Just spent days stressing over whether or not I should accept a new shift that I didn't want, and could manage without, simply because I wanted to make things easier for my family. I definitely have a problem with always thinking about my family first and ignoring myself completely. The thing you said about "One of these days, you need to be the one to rest" really helped me feel better about turning down this shift change. I love that you're able to not fall in trying to save others from their sorrow. Instead, you stand strong as a lighthouse guiding others to peace without leaving your post. I know I grew up trying to be a lifeguard, but if you dive into someone else's problems they dive into other people's problems and you rescue nobody. I'm learning to be that lighthouse now. Thanks Tank. I needed this today. I lost a shield maiden in training 14 years ago here soon. My daughter Temperance died in child birth. I know she walks the halls of Valhalla awaiting my arrival. I know you have little ones as well. Cherish them every day. I am still trying to figure out how to get through each day. Her loss still haunts me. My other kids are my reason for living. I honor her memory by doing my absolute best for and by them each day.
