Ted has fallen in love. It all started when his best friend, Marshall, drops the bombshell that he plans to propose to longtime girlfriend Lily, a kindergarten teacher. Suddenly, Ted realizes that he had better get a move on if he hopes to find true love. Helping him in the quest is Barney, a friend with endless -- often outrageous -- opinions, a penchant for suits and a foolproof way to meet women. When Ted meets Robin, he is sure it's love at first sight, but the affair fizzles into friendship. Voice-over by Bob Saget ("Full House") tells the story through flashbacks.

I absolutely love how the show does a great job at playing with your perceptions of things, having little nods or callbacks to things previously in the show or hence for things to come in the future, there are things that people don't know about because of deleted scenes that later reveal things we already saw or answer questions we were curious about, this goes for just things within the show itself as well, Things within the friend group and things within relationship with the mother, the mother's name being one of them, the reason Ted's kids freak out when the stripper tells her real name, is because their mother's name actually is Tracy. It's things like this that get hinted that early in the show that we call back to in future seasons, we learn a lot about the mother throughout the show, but her name is something a lot of people forget by the time we see her, so by having it in the back of your mind you're able to be more aware or on the lookout for this person or as you go through the show you're able to be more aware of little things that people don't often notice their first time watching some people don't even pick it up till their second or third watch, whether it's the mother or other things within the friend group, a lot of people miss the little hints given to us throughout the show, you can learn a lot about different characters or even who the mother is just purely by peoples reactions to different things happening, the kids reaction to the strippers name being one of them, but like I said throughout the show there are a little things that we see to do with the mothers personality or hobbies etc, so just be on the lookout for different things if you are interested in learning more about the friend group as a whole or Ted relationship with the mother etc, I'm someone who absolutely loves analysing and coming up with theories for different things as I watch shows, but I know not all reactors like to do that, so whether you're someone who just likes to sit back and relax while you watch a movie or TV show or someone who likes to look for clues and hints to things will see later on, I hope that you can be aware of how amazing the show is and how it handles small little details and calls back to past events or future things to come, that's what I think makes it more enjoyable or interesting especially on re-watches of the show, you get to pick up on things you didn't see previously,I hope that with your first watch you can be aware of these little things and can be more open to picking up on different characters body language and their reactions to certain things that might give you hints for the future, if that's something you're interested in doing, otherwise just sit back and enjoy the show.

I thought that everybody knew that volunteers at a soup kitchen or a shelter get first crack at donations and food stuffs. You're not supposed to go overboard with it though, like a few things not enough to fill up your pantry or closet.

"Ted" is the Narrator and framing device...but it's an ensemble cast. Barney, Lily, Marshall, and Robin aren't side characters, they're all mains together. (Same as how New Girl isn't just about Jess, it's about the whole loft group and also Cece.)

Honestly I have always been in the minority and liked Ted the most by far. Most people for sure like barney and Marshall the most though. I get why he is not most peoples favorites because he is kinda crazy and a dick but not in over the top funny ways like barney is. Also funny enough I am from Minnesota so all the stereotypes about Marshalls family and Minnesota are hilarious lol. They are overexaggerated but still feel very real but mostly only for more rural parts of the state.

The Matchmaker lady I recognized her too but I don't know the actress's name I do know that I believe what I know from aside from this is a guest spot on an episode of two and a half Men where she played I believe berta's sister I just googled who played Ellen how I met your mother I came up with the name camryn Manheim her wiki says she's done a s*** ton of movies and a lot of guest spots in like less than five episodes of different TV shows one of my favorite cop shows back in the day New York undercover she was in one episode she was in three different numbers of law and order is different characters she was in an episode of family Guy as another character named Ellen she was in Will & Grace as Sue she was in a few other shows that I've seen before but might not have seen that episode cuz it wasn't a show I really watched she's been a regular on law & order basically most of this decade as a character named Kate Dixon
