Ok so we've learned 2 things from this fiasco. 1) We see Thanos again when the Avengers find him which means John Wick made the same mistake as Thor and didn't go for the head, i.e. didn't confirm the kill, just assumed what he did was enough. and 2) We now know WHY Thanos was a shell of a man when the Avengers found him. It's sort of like those "A genie can't kill you, but you'll be surprised what you could live through" kind of situations.

In all likelihood ACME had already revived John Wick's dog before Wick got to Levi, ensuring he wasn't harmed in Wick's revenge. So all John Wick was really doing in going to see Thanos was to ensure Thanos was warned to never do it again. Sure a dead man can't kill your puppy but when any other vilian gets that temptation you know a word or warning from Thanos not to mess with Mr. Wick is damn near pricessless.

Your logic is solid, but a thought occurs: Killing a man is a simple task, even when there are a hundred other men between you and him. But, to kill a demigod? Let us say that while death of the body would surely not be preferable, death of the spirit would be completely unbearable. In this regard, John Wick caused the death of over half of the universe, albeit vicariously. Pretty sure that puts him in the running for top spot at the Sassys (like the Emmys, but for assassins).

@@Alpha-omega-beginning-and-end not exactly, because by removing all life, he doesn’t in many regards, there isn’t a freeing up of resources per se as those particular resources are created by life itself. Removing half of plants removes half of oxygen producers for examples, and with a halved population, in many cases, those resources that are actually freed up don’t help anything becstse they’re now harder to reach, which leads to further death. Better idea would have been to use the gauntlet to double things for life to thrive easier/better, then to simply remove half of the life that already existed.

They left one thing out. John Wick has the uncanny ability to make allies out of potential rivals. How many people who could have collected that bounty and just went, "nope. He's my BFF now. Fuck you and your table." Add that on top of subconsciously controlling probability. I think Thanos lived to the beginning of Endgame because Wick did something unspeakable with a pencil and Wick got his second dog back. He has that dog even in four.
