@@MageofSwords MCU Thanos was shunned and mocked on Titan because of his plan to save the planet by killing half the population. At this point, he did not have the means to do the opposite (if the stones even COULD do that). His motive in continuing this plan even after he gets the gauntlet is to prove that his original plan was correct. He is completely and utterly convinced that if he just does this one thing, the entire universe will go "oh, that worked!" and then work to uphold the new balance and live more sustainably, while showering him with gratitude. The problem is that a lot of people didn't pay attention to the movie, and thinks his entire plan is ONLY to halve the population, which it obviously isn't. Then in Endgame, Past Thanos sees that his original plan did NOT work. People did not accept his actions, and were not grateful, which is why this version goes for the "reset the entire universe to follow my ideals" plan instead. Granted, wanting to impress a big booty goth chick is obviously also an understandable motive.

Unfortunately the answer to this is that those resources would eventually be consumed by an equally growing population, then the danger would be two-fold. Of course his answer wasn't much better as the worlds would eventually be repopulated anyway. Civilizations have a bad habit of not learning lessons forced on them. Being able to control all the galaxy's resources also wouldn't work as that's tyranny. The hardest lesson is that this is the best it's going to get.

Thanks would NEVER let himself do this. Sure, he does want to make it where everyone would have enough food, and no overpopulation to stop such a goal. But he WANTS people to know that he did it. He was the one who saved the Universe by doing so. It is kinda like Walter White in Breaking Bad. When Hank was about to give up on searching for whoever Heisenberg was, Walter said “maybe he is still out there..”, due to his drunk rant. So Walter wanted Hank to keep looking for him to fill his own Pride and Ego. Thanos would never fully commit to his plan, as his ego and pride will stop him from doing so.
