I attack em for wasting my time. Lol surprisingly you can use the shutdown field neutralizer (it actually works) when they interdict you if you time it properly and then you are free to move around and do your thing while they scan you. Although when I try it and attack them they just fly away anyway. I'll have to go try again and see if I can get them to stick around and fight me to verify they arent on train tracks and always programmed to scan and leave. Lol Edit: This exact interdiction looks like the initial introduction interdiction. That is because his ship was shut down instantly when interdicted. At least now when I am interdicted my ship works fine for about 4 seconds after dropping out where I can pulse my shutdown neutralizer before the shutdown wave hits my ship. But this guy was shut down instantly so this must have been the initial interdiction for this game account or maybe it is how interdictions used to play out in older versions of the game.

The large ships have roles to play, but they aren't the be all end all of the game Medium ships like the Fer De Lance, Krait Mk2, and Chieftain; are going to be your dominant combat ships That being said; people have killed thargoids in the beginner ship, which is literally just a box of space kleenex

For example that language changes, grows and evolves. More specific to your example about 'Space Stations', this is an example of Spacedock not understanding English's growth and change(at best). Just to pull the definition of 'station' from Merriam-Webster, ": the place or position in which something or someone stands or is assigned to stand or remain" A Space station is assigned to stand at or remain at a planet, or a star or at a relative spot in solar system(lagrange points come to mind here). And this isn't even going into all the other ways that 'Space Station' is a culturally correct term.

I still remember my first time getting interdicted by a Thargoid. I was in an Adder that had only mining lasers and a single pulse laser attached to it, and I could only sit there in mute horror as this fleshy monstrosity circled my unpowered, uncontrolled ship. I frantically tried every key to get my ship back online with no success. I was utterly at the mercy of a thing I couldn't understand or communicate with. An eternity passed before my ship coughed back to life. I don't even think I waited around to see what it did after my thrusters came online, boosting away frantically and trying to coax my FSD to work long enough to carry me out of the thing's way. I didn't even stop to consider it might pull me right back out if it wanted to. I never once considered firing on it when my ship rebooted. It didn't fire first and I'm not in the habit of being the one to start an engagement, but even if I was I wouldn't have tried my luck. This creature, croaking and howling incomprehensibly at me, had pulled me from a jump between stars. I was beyond the reach of any human. I knew nothing about this thing, and any attempt to scan brought me no results. It was massive, and it was more than capable of destroying my ship if it chose to do so. It didn't. It had plucked me from the rift to look at me like a child might peel a snail off a leaf from a garden plant. It examined me, then went on its way. I have flown in the Pleiades since then, and have been pulled from jumps a couple more times by what I now know are Thargoids, but I have yet to fire on one. I let them look at me until they are satisfied. It's a small toll to pay when passing through their star systems.

Ahh, I remember when they first released the thargoids. I wasnt skilled or lucky enough to be in a position to get interdicted myself, but when I first saw a video of a thargoid interdiction it sent chills down my spine. It boggles my mind today to think about what the first person who encountered one on the open servers mustve felt when it was happening. Makes me wonder what we'll feel if or when we encounter aliens in real life... Hopefully we end up alive after it to tell the tale.

It's the thargoid object. They scan you first then they emit some kind of sound, if you analyze the sound coming from it,, you find that it's giving you 3D coordinates, and with those 3D you can see that it's the crude drawing of your ship. coordinates it's drawing of the ship you are in.

So, in my encounter, yesterday, I was able to boost away the instant Hyperdiction was done and managed a second boost between system stutters. The thargoid did finally shut down my systems, but I was already travelling at nearly 500 away from them. They gave up and took off before my systems recovered.

The sound design is amazing. Consider, for example, the initial sound of the hyperdiction . . . Without context: a strange and somewhat unsettling noise. With the context that it's your spacecraft making the sound: f****ng TERRIFYING.

This reminds me of the first couple times in TNG when encountering The Borg,that's a scary enemy for sure and online if your playing a game and the Borg show up, you RUN!! Run your a** off full tilt in the opposite direction and pray they don't see you or worse yet..follow. Between this and Borg I don't know which gives me more anxiety

Me wondering what these Thargoids are...keep seeing the term and the weird look through the hyper space but this is first time seeing it up close. Wild. Do they just like to muk about and use the ships as play toys
