The way I see it, is if Axis fumbles hard and can't even take France, then when Germany capitulates, have Allies dec on the Soviets instead, and have Japan team with them (if they're still alive)

@@thewampire4640 Because at the point that you have to ask France to leave, 1) Axis has already lost anyways. They're just going to be so far behind that leaving France just prolongs the inevitable of Axis dying. 2) It feels bad to do well as France and be forced to let Germany kill you anyways, but it also feels bad as USA or Soviets to not get to play since the game was decided before you enter the war. So just let Allies and Soviets fight to keep it interesting without coddling the Axis.

I just have the Soviets join the Axis at that point and declare on the allies. It definitely can screw with a Russian player's strategy if they were building up forts or something but this already will happen if an historical Poland holds against the Germans in the base game. The problem is, German and Italian players may try to exploit this by doing deliberately poorly against France to gain a big red ally. But I only play with people I trust not to do something like that (I rarely play MP)

It was very funny at the time that Australia was really keen on fighting the Japan fleet (I was Japan in the game). I meanwhile just kept the fleet in port and was actively not engaging with the allies navy.

the Aussie fleet made it to the history books in WW2... they have the only war ship ( light cruiser HMAS Sydney ) sunk by a German merchant raider ( merchant ship DKM Komoran ) in history.... the German captain been hailed as a hero while the Aussie captain been incompetent... btw: there have been a lot of survivors in the German ship, loosing around 90 people... while the Aussie ship sunk with all hands, and Aussies being British, said the Germans machine gunned them while in the water... Later the Aussie navy refused to search for the ship, because nobody knew where it sunk.... so someone stepped up and told them to start at the position the German captain said the action been taking place... and all the Navy could say ( here comes the Brits again ) he ( Cpt Detmers ) lied anyway.... so they searched at the place where the German Cpt said its happening, they found the Komoran and after 2 or 3 days, they found the Sydney, exact where the German Cpt told them...

People need to stop pulling out of France if the Axis fail to take it. It is already joever at that point. I can't imagine it being particularly fun to pull out just to sit on your ass for a year or two to then completely roll them (assuming the soviets didn't already). At that point it'd probably make more sense to have a Soviet-Japanese Alliance or something of the sort to fight for the Allies. I played MP exactly once as France and managed to push into the Saarland and a bit beyond, was forced to pull out and oh shocker, the Germany desintegrated at the Stalin line. Nobody had an engaging game at the end. More or less same thing happened here. MP lobbies really need a different solution for this

To the people malding that they made the call to pull out of France: FRANCE WON. Everyone there knew France won. They needed to let Germany win so the Soviet and American players could have a game. And don't worry, Germany knew exactly what was happening, someone letting you win on HOI4 cause you can't beat them is humiliating, and Germany was feeling it (hence the awkward silence)

I remember holding on my own mp game to the point where the game grinded to a halt till 41. Canada kept giving me air support, and I dug in so well that my units could withstand heavy tanks pushing them. Eventually, the server I was on had me capitulate so the game could continue. So I understand the fun this man had with decking on the germans

This kind of situation really goes to show just hopeless and unwinnable ww2 was for the Germans. Despite all their eventual failings, what happened in our timeline was probably close to as good as the axis could have done, and it still ended in a decisive total defeat. The fact they lasted as long as they did is honestly kind of a miracle, and if even one thing hadn’t gone as well for them, such as a france that didn’t fall, or at least held and put up significant resistance into 1941, Germany could never even consider invading the ussr, and if they did, they’d be pushed out nearly immediately.

No event is ever set in stone, and we as humans aren't rational creatures with 100% knowledge of what is happening. The Germans had multiple opportunities to win the war, same as the allies had multiple opportunities to win the war quicker, or prevent the war from happening to begin with. Sure France could have held, but then so could have the Germans beat them even quicker, or maybe win in Africa, Perhaps the Soviets would have proven more incompetent and lost all their cities and the caucaus oil fields, or perhaps the Allies would have fought better than they did against Japan in the pacific. WW2 wasn't unwinable, for either side the fact that it took 6 years shows that both sides had the strength to push for victory that they did or did not if based on the millions of actions of each human, from scientists to soldiers to politicians to industrialists.

There is no timeline in which the Soviets lost all their cities dude. The Germans were at the end of their logistics in OTL. By the time they raced to Moscow it was too late. The distances involved are too great. And even IF the Soviets somehow fell the Allies would have still just nuked Germany in the end and the war would be over by 1947. There is no timeline in which the Nazis won unless maybe they focused on attacking Turkey, taking the Middle East and then just sitting while reshifting their industry east and south and not completely mishandling nuclear technology. But at point we are just talking about right wing expansionist Germany not the Nazis.

@@jam8539 Germany had basically no chance to win the war. The most important factor is extremely simple and it's INSANELY stacked against the Axis: oil. There's basically 3 large oil producers in the 1940s: the USA (being like 70%+ of all oil production), the Soviets (15-20%) and Venezuela, which made up most of the rest. The middle east doesn't have a developed oil industry. Germany had NO chance to actually win vs the Soviets simple because they did not have the oil to advance far enough. The absolute best case scenario for them was taking the Caucuses oil fields in

It was impossible for the yellow man to beat the white man militarily, the Japanese took Singapore and most of Burma and held it until the end of the war, mainland Japan would have been invaded before the allies took Singapore back. History is full of impossibilities happening, now we say Poland and France were bound to fall and it was impossible for the USSR to lose. Yet just a few things needed to be different and maybe that's not the case.

@@jam8539 This is a pretty small brain take. There's a lot of stuff people said was impossible that they just didn't think would happen. Then there's physics, and the ACTUALLY impossible. There wasn't enough oil that Germany could get its hands on to prosecute the war they started. Period. Short of complete bizarro world alternate history fan fiction like "the US joins the Axis" or similar. Even the Germans themselves, while completely ignorant that their troop estimates for the Soviets were literally a 1/3rd of what they actually had, didn't think they really stood a chance either. Their own supply corps officers literally told them "we only have 2 months worth of oil for offensive operations and that will only support fast movement of our panzer division... leg infantry is still walking into Russia like it's 1812" and they just shrugged and did it anyways. Really mind-bogglingly stupid decision that resulted in their destruction.

Axis loses, then there's barb between allies and soviets, and axis players can rejoin as fascist south america and prepare for allies invasion (normandy 2). The game will be too unbalanced, We already have tons of MP mods maintaining a delicate balance between them, It'd be impossible to balance another war between allies and soviets with Nukes and US industry. Especially when small changes like 2 tile El alamein can drastically change the game.

It's quite easy to do in Vanilla against the AI, essentially just build forts up to level 7 on the border, couple levels of AA, and build up your military. Against players it shouldn't be this successful. I took advantage of some changes to this MP mod.

muhahaha, yea. Had to cut for time but we pushed them to Leon and then the republicans left some gaps open and Spain was able to snake, I fell back to Barcelona thinking I could hold it safer but the republicans capped. Not sure if it was the mod or their stability was super low.

I know this video is relatively old. But what tank template did you use and is it still relevant to todays version?

I didn't show template because it was unique to the mod. Motorized gets 40% hardness in this mod. But even now the template would be outdated but the idea was to make a heavy tank and stack armour to get 30% of the top armour value and then add a heavy tank. I think the composition was 13 motorized 2 heavy tank. If I recall correctly. It wouldn't be value for money in vanilla, better to just do a standard medium tank template.

he did all the grinding he need to for flexible defense. That made a HUGE difference in this, combined with entrenchment as you could see clearly in the video. He actually played like a France that wanted to defend, rather than attack the attack...which is what historical France was lined up to do.
