He never has a real conversation with anyone who can push back and counter everything he says with reason. His isolation has warped his mind for worse now. Normal people have their friends and family telling them if they are wrong and why. They do it to help the person. Much better to have someone close to you tell you are doing something embarrassing before you go out in public and make a bad impression of yourself on someone. Basically it’s tough love. Phil gets none of that. And Phil is too stupid to reflect and self introspection on his actions. Phil is basically on autopilot as a addict. He just does the same shit everyday to feed his habits. After they placed the slave trade clip, DSP said, “The internet was a different place then!” That was definitely a canned answer. He definitely thought they were gonna ask about the Dead Space 2 thing and he had a canned response. When the slave trade clip popped up, his brain short circuited and he defaulted to his canned response. Craig and Adam let it go, but as they kept pushing him, they circled back to the fact that it was 7 months ago. That’s when I knew they were going to counter everything he tried to pull. I’ve watched the interview twice and you miss so much stuff the first time because your brain is just too shocked at what you’re witnessing. The second time you absorb so much more. And then DSP’s meltdown the next day? Better than I imagined. DSP is not on Level 1. Level 1 is where you learn the basics of the game. DSP started Level 1 and ran straight into the first goomba. He is stuck on the Game Over screen.

And he spends all their money on his vices. He can’t save anything. He can’t take her on a honeymoon. He can’t take her to the zoo. But he can spend $15 on a Street Fighter gacha game. He’s got no retirement investments. He’s not preparing for a sustainable future for his wife. Even if she’s saving all her money for retirement, it won’t be enough for both of them when they’re 65. So what kind of hero is the man that marries an abused woman when he can’t even handle his own finances? Who’s he saving? He’s just taking advantage of someone in a bad situation.
