The real-life version of Journal #3 has an entry on the bottomless pit, which states that there are apparently complex rules as to what comes back out the hole and what goes away forever. Some types of items _always_ come back out, some always go away, and for all others there appear to be several contributing factors, including on what day of the week the items were thrown in. The writers considered for a while that they could reveal much later in the series that the characters _didn't_ return to where they came from, but to a near-identical parallel universe, and that all events from this episode to the revelation would be taking place in that other world - but they ultimately decided against that joke, since it would complicate things too much, given what they had already planned for the plot.

As someone who has also had a good relationship with my siblings growing up, it felt so refreshing watching Dipper and Mabel being mostly nice and supportive of each other in the show

yea, I had the same experience when I started watching danny phantom for the first time recently, I'm so used to siblings hating each other in shows (especially older ones) that I was genuinely shocked that Jazz is such an amazing older sister

22:20 it didn’t really switch i guess , according to the physical copy of the journal the bottomless pit is shaped like an infinity symbol ♾️ (well i guess since it’s flipped on it’s side it would be closer to an 8 shape but with an enterance on the very top) there was also a chance that they could’ve never come back at all or possibly be spat out into another universe since only some things come back, usually the things you don’t want come back and the things that you do want don’t come back

Another filler but many funny and classic moments in it. And to answer your question, If you buy journal 3, it says that some stuff come back from the bottomless pit and some stuff don't. This is not explained in the show. 23:01: "Oh" So you've noticed the code, then. 29:21: 😭

Remember that this isn't the show portraying native Americans this way, or even the characters choosing to dress up, but that it's an _in-universe_ old game based on a fictional "western" theme. Cultural appropriation and insensitivity should realistically be _expected_ in that scenario.
