Great video! Knowing how to change the oil is a good skill to have. Your dad is wonderful for teaching you! My husband has ramps that he drives our vehicles up onto. That way the wheels are up on the ramps and the car won't fall, unless you don't have the tires on there squarely. Anyway, it saves a lot of money to do your oil change on your own. 😊

Great job! Changing tires, checking tire pressure, checking oil levels and changing oil are all things I wish they would test us on before handing over the drivers license. It's honestly something everyone should know how to do if they are operating a vehicle. My dad taught all of his kids these things before we were allow to drive. In the future, sometimes using a heat gun or torch and heating the bolt before removing will help it release. ❤ I've never done it, but I know my amazing husband has battled the oil bolt in the past.

I love this blog for the different content, 😎 to at least see how the process for an oil change. Most newer vehicles have that one bolt etc that needs the shop. I swear it’s for that reason so vehicles have to rely on the shops😂. Anyways Melinda props 👍🏼👍🏼 for you on trying & learning how to do your own oil change. As your dad said the electrical tools are a must, if you had an electric wrench of some sort it totally would of came off. Hence, the oil change by you & your dad would of been successful, it was a minor fix. You both did amazing, awe love the father & daughter life learning ❤️😎

In one of my high school classes they taught us how to change oil. I would do it if it was easier to dispose of it. My uncle used to collect it in his plastic litter containers, but the ones I buy are all cardboard. Didn’t know you could bring the oil to the auto store. That’s good to know. Maybe I will try it now.

I can’t handle the heat there. It got so hot my flip flops were melting on the pavement. Is monsoon season running late? Normally I thought they’d of started by now🥺🥵 I had to move back to Oregon because the 110+ temps were too much for me. Praying for monsoon’s for you all extremely soon💞 I personally don’t think it’s worth the hassle of changing my own oil. It’s easier faster and your not saving a lot especially if you use coupons!! When a bolt is stuck that much, if you have an impact driver you can try that or put your socket wrench on it and use a hammer on the handle of the wrench to simulate an impact driver. Have had to do that a few times.

This is what happens when you have a steel plug in an aluminum pan and don't use anti-seize. Next time try hitting the wrench with a hammer. You don't need to hit it real hard, Just the shock from the hammer will usually be enough to break them free. Also NEVER use an open end wrench on a stuck bolt. At best you'll round the bolt off, At worst the wrench will slip and you'll end up punching something you shouldn't punch. Ask me how I know... It's great to see you interested in learning now to do this stuff. Even if you don't do it, It's good to know how.

I admire you for wanting to try but as I watched this whole process, I began to think that if it were me, I would go and have it done. I'm wondering if a car is easier to do an oil change than a truck. I'd be curious to hear your dad's opinion on this. I found this video a refreshing change even though it didn't turn out as you planned. Your dad is encouraging and patient, he really loves you!
@jus.me.tanzks5834 Жыл бұрын
When you are doing it at home a truck is easier because you really don’t need to lift it at all if your willing to squish under. And gm cars, suvs and truck. Some of the suvs are the most frustrating I guess because the oil filter is in front of the engine and the first few times you do them you get burned lol Otherwise they are all very similar. The plugs are all 15m and you need a band wrench or claw typically for the filter. Other makes of cars such as fords can have skid plates which add more time and can be frustrating, Toyota trucks have metal skid plates so they are heavy lol And if your car has a canister filter on top those are probably the easiest cars because then you only need to go under to drain the oil lol your not also trying to get a filter loose while under there So it really depends on the car on which is easier. Subarus are easy to change oil the filter is right on top of the engine bay. but the other maintenance isnt so easy 😂

So maybe the engine/oil was too hot still. I know my car has to beliw a certain temperatur, before I can chance the oil or even just top it of, if it needs more oil in between changes. It is a safety thing, so you don't accidently get hot oil on you.

I hope you don't put your clothes with the oil on them in your washer. Because all your stuff will come out. Smelling like would recommend the land taking them somewhere to get them washed. So you don't ruin your wor after you wash them. Run a cycle of vinegar water something through there. I did it, and my worship was never the same.
