For those who don’t know the story of la llorona it’s starts of with a woman whose husband left her (for some reason) after he left she went crazy and lunatic and accidentally drowned her kids in a lake. Then when she realized what she did and started crying next to the lake wearing a white dress of some sorts. After that happens she is said to be wearing a white dress looking for kids in the streets of Mexico at night to capture them and bring them to the lake to drown them to remind herself of what she had done. That’s why that guy said if you’re a kid and you see la llorona to go inside your house or else she’ll get you. (Btw this is the story I grew up on other people can be told different versions of la llorona but this one is most popular) Edit: I forgot to mention that the reason she takes the kids is because she thinks it’s hers and takes them home and basically has a flashback of what she did not knowing she is doing it again to these children

My version of the “La Llorona” story A man leaves his wife for another woman after she went crazy. Full of rage she throws her kids into the river. Then, she sees her kids floating down the river and she had realized what she done, so she throws herself into the river. Now she roams the streets of a certain part of Mexico looking for her children. If she spots you on your own in the streets, she will approach you. When she realizes that you’re not one of her kids, she will take you to the river and throw you in. (That’s how every grown up in my family told the story of La Llorona)

La Llorona scared the hell outta me as a kid! We had a river in my back yard as a kid. My grandfather hated that I went back there because it was so deep. He told me the story about her and I never went back there again. You hear her, get back in the house and don’t come out till morning. My grandfather is from Mexico and he’s mother told him the same story.

So, there was this woman, and im not sure if you know but la llorona is what is known as a White Woman, also known as a type of spirit that has to do with issue with love that dealt in death. Now in the story of La Llorona, what happened was he husband wen out a cheated on her with another woman, she was so broken up and angry about it that she killed her kids. When she realized what she had done she killed herself as well. Hence why she is crying out for her kids, trying to find them in regrets of her actions. Theres also a legend out there where she was a single mom and loved a man, or this one. Which was is the true story I am unsure.
