I can never see this without getting goosebumps and shivers, it is amazing and I love Tarja and Marko together. This entire concert was truly epic and Tarja truly shows how talented she is, what is sad is that this truly was the end of an era. Tarja is a great singer and she was a great part of what made Nightwish into the Nightwish we know and love today. I love her voice and I loved Nightwish with her as a singer. Anette was not my favorite, but I think she also made her mark on Nightwish and made them see what they needed after the break with Tarja. She also has a great voice but I think she wasn't the best fit for Nightwish. Floor is amazing and her time is now, what she does is out of this world and you can see that the band is having fun again and really loves making music and playing together. It is unfair to pit the three singers against each other as all of them are different and can do different things with their voices. Truly Nightwish is evolving and I will be there for their musical journey every step of the way.

You are right, and I mostly agree with you. For me personally though Nightwish has ended with Tarja's era. They lost something very special and couldn't ever catch my interest ever again, even though I was returning to give a listen to their new stuff from time to time. Tarja on her own didn't manage to get me as well. So it is a quite sad story for me, on the other hand I can always just listen to the songs I love :-)

Slaying the Dreamer with Tarja and the one with Floor both have the same "timing" (almost) and can be compare side by side second by second (already done though, I don't remember which one, sorry). The second part goes for Tarja (I prefer the first part by Floor, cleaner, metal ) and the clip montage for the clip with Tarja (far less static than with Floor, the montage, not the signer).

Floor and Tarja are friendly. there's a video of the two of them singing "Over The Hills and Far Away" together from not long after Floor joined NW. everyone is entitled to their own personal preference. i don't think NW would want fans arguing over who is "better". it only ads to the NW Army's reputation for toxicity for people to be rude to each other. Ann would not want the fanbase she spent so long building to descend into ugliness and fighting. Tarja will always have an edge over Floor when it comes to classical operatic singing simply because a) Tarja spent her education studying and performing opera style singing, and b) Floor has said herself that she doesn't like classical music, so someone who truly loves classical music will always be stronger in that style than someone who doesn't. Floor's strength comes from her versatility, her control over dynamics, and how she moves from one placement to another, depending on the song and what emotion she's trying to convey. A lot of times, personal preference will come from how you heard it performed first. if you fell in love with NW with Tarja, how she performs those songs will always resonate with you more. their sound changed dramatically with the addition of Annette, which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. With Floor, the feel of "old school" NW returned to a certain extent because Floor can sing similarly to Tarja in ways that Annette doesn't. However, Floor doesn't sing one way all the time, like Tarja did, so, the way she has adapted the songs to fit her voice may not sit well with Tarja fans. it will always be hard on fans when bands change singers. the ugly way in which Tarja was dismissed didn't help matters either.

As you probably know, Tarja Turunen was the original Nightwish vocalist for almost a decade, defining a big part of their sound with her classically infused vocal techniques which combined perfectly with Nightwish's inicial power metal and later symphonic metal sound, and also with Marco's vocals, as you noticed it was a perfect match in every way! The great thing is that Tarja has been having an amazing solo career in the last 15 years... Her voice is really high (her last note on this one is an Eb6), but also a full and really powerfull sound (and in her career she always keeps on experimenting new things with her vocals, including a haunting dark and lower register she can belt out), plus having this theatrical presence on stage... I'm really glad you liked it! Tarja actually sang some songs with Marco in a finnish festval two years ago. Tarja also says she has been in contact with Tuomas electronically. But she has no intentions on going back to a Nightwish stage again. I think that as the years goes by, it is inevitable that she wil join them at least one more time, just as Michael Kiske and Helloween. These reunion would actually much easier because Tarja and Floor are very good friends and they have already shared the stage before.

In a project they worked together a couple of years, Tarja and Marco met again and they talked about previous situations and they hugged and fixed it. Tarja doesn't speak with the other members, although she says she had sent emails with Tuomas for business reasons. Of course I recommend her version of Supremacy! But also Victim of Ritual is a song that shows her vocals skills pretty well. In Nightwish, I recommend Wishmaster! and Creek Mary's Blood is interesting too

I have listened both versions 100s of times. I love both of them. Here is my breakdown. First male parts. With due respect, on this particular arrangement Henk is falling a bit flat. I listened to his rendition of the original, that is gorgeous. This arrangement demands phantom to be gritty and aggressive. Henk has a beautiful clean vocals but his gritty vocals show that he is new to this business. Marco kills it, and us with the song... Before I move on, let me tell you this. In this song the most impressive one is him, not the ladies. Let's come to women. Traja has an incredible operatic style, extremely impressive. As far as I know she holds an E6 instead of Floor's D6 for the last note. However, Floors sings the last part so cleanly, not trying to show off but to serve the song, it is also incredible. Before listening to the Floor's version, I was very nervous that it will not be comparable (Floor has a previous version which is good but nowhere near this level). But she did it. I am not saying one or the other is better. They are different and extremely well, and I for one is very happy we have variance.

It would be a dream to see Tarja, Floor and Nightwish together on a stage. In fact, Floor and Tarja are friends, and recently Tarja sang with Marco on a Christmas special in Finland. Tarja said he has overcome the past. I don't know if you know Nightwish's old albums, but it's worth knowing. Of the 9 studio albums, 5 were recorded with Tarja. The old Nightwish used to be more gothic and dark. It is quite different from the current one. In addition, there are numerous iconic songs that have never been sung by Anette or Floor. When it comes to relations with Tarja, I believe she and Floor are friends. And Marko never performed this song with anyone else. They had so much chemistry on stage here and he honored that. This summer, however, Marko sung this again with Tarja couple of times for the first time since 2005. Neither is in Nightwish anymore, but there's no bad blood between Marko and the band and I believe he could have been a quest to Tarja concert even if he was still in Nighwish. Now he just has more free time in calendar...

Just to annoy the fans fighting, I suggest you watch Tarja and Floor singing Over the Hills and Far Away as a duet live (they're still very good friends today and adorable together). OtHaFA is one of the Tarja era songs. If I remember correctly Emppu (guitarist) was still somewhat friends with Tarja for a few years after she left tho I'm unaware whether it's still the case or not. She stayed in loose contact with Tuomas and she was out of touch with Marco until they had to do a concert together a few years ago (not sure if they completely reconnected outside of stage, though it was very emotional and beautiful). She's apparently at a better place in her personal life than she was back then and it shows, I truly recommend you watch her Act I and Act II (her solo lives)
