Curiously... Jitan is his name in Japanese, I was really surprised when I was watching a Japanese streamer playing FF9 and she called the main character "Jitan"

In the official Spanish release it was Yitan. Pretty close. Zidane would NOT have worked in Spain at that time. There was a very famous football (soccer for you, americans) player of that name. It would have been a bit... messy
