As of right now, all models are still in stock including the LE model, the only ones not in stock are the "refurbished" offerings, but all other models, including the discounted LCD ones seem good to go.

For example, Canada is dealing with some shipping issues that are the Canadian shipping companies' fault, not Valve's. Since you have the LE and Normal 1tb OLED you can put the LE inner case with the the Normal outer case with the orange/white logo. Also I’m now realizing the outer case having the Velcro strap is 100% necessary since the inner case has the zipper

I love fun colors and stuff but a lot of stuff lately is just so garish, but I didn’t think this was. Like a lot of different colors with old Nintendo systems looks great I thought, and apples current stuff looks really great and pretty, but so many third-party controllers just look awful to where I don’t want them even though I love fun colors with stuff. I can’t even decide if I should get one of these or not though, let alone spend $30 just to have a sort of translucent case… And having the light on all the time at the top seems annoying, much less paying 30 extra dollars for it lol

I want to see how the OD handles BFI with it's 90hz OLED panel, if it can do a decent job of 90hz BFI it will be amazing for playing retro games, RetroArch has BFI built in, and it makes a gargantuan difference for motion clarity especially in fast-paced games like Sonic or SHMUP and racing games, and for FPS games it's an absolute must, especially on smaller screens where it's already harder to be accurate, but most of all, smooth motion just massively improves image quality and gameplay, as it makes for a much smoother experience. OLED works so well with BFI thanks to it instant pixel response, and for retro gaming, when combined with scanlines, it feels so much closer to the real thing, the fact that with the OD we can get so much closer to playing classic games on real hardware on a handheld is amazing, for me, I like BFI+scanlines, but some people love CRT shaders like Sony Aperture grill or shadow-mask shaders, and those look so much more authentic on OLED, especially with BFI. If Valve released a firmware update with native BFI and a slider to control intensity, it would make the OD miles ahead of anything else on the market.

I REALLY hope Valve releases a firmware update that adds a toggle to the power light in the settings. That would fix the "you can see the power light from the front while playing" issue for those of us (like me) who almost exclusively play while plugged in.

Mmm, those valve colors look very slick. I was thinking about getting the Oled, but if the oled is here to stay it’s possible that a chip revamp of the Steam Deck is not out of the cards. I’d really like valve to implement VRR to that screen later down the line but we’ll see.

I don't even mind that we don't have the Limited Edition in EU but what pains me is that in EU everyones Deck is still sitting in the warehouse and hasn't been shipped yet. And I know from experience that it's about a week to deliver to me from whenever they do eventually send it from the Valve EU warehouse. So no chance of spending the light workdays of Thanksgiving time with a new Deck.

Cool. I think I remember the vent smell being stronger on the LCD deck. But probably I've commited the good feeling of getting what became my favorite device memory and smell is tied to memory, so it smelled better retroactively. Either way. Cool show and tell video, got a standard 512gb, swapped the drives with my LCD deck and selling that to a buddy for cheap. Just in time to blow that cash on the fall steam sale. LOL😂

I agree, more colorways would be much better than limited editions, honestly I hate when companies do limited editions, IMO they are more the scalper edition, fortunately I don't care about this one since I don't like the orange accents and TBH I find the see thru plastic shells to look cheap, it just reminds me of 90's electronics in a bad way.

Omg, finally some people who agree. I also passed on the LE model, and it was for the similar reason that frosted seethrough plastic does look kinda cheap, however, I really only feel this way about colorless or black seethrough plastic. If they had made an atomic purple variant with blue accents, I would have been all over it. My rule with transparent color designs is they have to go big or go home, and transparent black just doesn’t do it for me. But godforbid you express this opinion anywhere online, then everyone wants to argue with you about how you’re secretly jealous of others who got the LE Steam Deck, and how all your opinions are just cope. It’s not cope. The LE Deck was up long enough for literally anyone to get. Hell, you can still get one right now! Some people simply just don’t like certain things, and slapping a limited edition label on it isn’t going to change their minds. Happy for anyone who’s satisfied with theirs, but personally, not for me.

I am tempted to upgrade to a 2TB storage option as I did with my previous Deck but I want to avoid power hungry options…the WD SN740 can pull 6W at peak, I saw Seagate just released a drive that pulls half that amount of power. It would be really good to have an overview to understand the sweet spot between power consumption and performance, especially for games like Ratchet & Clank which make use of the extra speed.

Quickest way is to make sure your old Deck is at 3.5.5 and swap internal SSD to new Steam Deck.

i kind of wish the limited edition had the colored logo on the case. seems they flipped it from the LCD version where the more expensive model had the colored logo and now the limited has plain black. also the logo would have fit better with the limited edition since it has orange accents. not a huge deal but slightly disappointing.
