The fact that so many people are co-signing this shit in the comments 🤦🏾‍♂️ “I’m black and idc if he says it” good for you lmao you don’t speak for all of us. There is not one thing that Black folks have that everyone else isn’t trying to take, it’s insane. Nigga was/is a derogatory slur. It was reclaimed by Black people, the only ones with the right to. You can participate in the culture without disrespecting it. I would never dream of using slurs aimed at Mexican people, even if they reclaimed it. It’s not for me. But for some reason any and everyone can take from Black and we’re just supposed to be okay with it. We built our culture over 400+ years of oppression, so of course I’m going to be defensive about it when people think that they deserve to be able to say nigga just because of where they were born or because they grew up around Black folks. That’s not how it works

That's interesting. I'm Brazilian, born and bread in Rio. One time when i was twenty something years old i went to Cleveland, Ohio, to visit some friends. I couldn't help to realize i felt a lot more comfortable talking to black ppl than to the american whites. I wasn't expecting them to be so distant (and to my foreign eyes) kind of cold. I felt black ppl were more similar to us, like i was in iHop with an ex gf and out of nowhere a Michael Jackson song comes through the speakers in the restaurant. Me and my ex immediately started dancing a bit while still on our chairs. Moving our heads and arms. Then I saw two black women two tables to the right dancing as well and singing. The rest of the place didn"t even move a little lol that was crazy to me, because i don't even like MJ but when the beat starts you kinda go on automatic groove mode.. So yeah, i imagine that the latinos born in the US would relate to blacks more or less in the same way i did. Makes sense

I can't speak for this generation but I remember in the early 90's, the homies would check you for using the "N" word. Especially in the country jail. Today, it seems like 95% of this generation uses it at the end of every sentence. Young Drummer Boy is one of the young artists from Pomona (LA) and yet he NEVER uses the word. I personally wish la raza wouldn't use it but hey, who am I to say. Be safe. - Y.A. Baby West Los Angeles. ✌️

Y’all really buggin’ out. Yes Black and Brown are two powerful groups of people that could create beautiful things together. BUT the use of a slur ain’t it! Justifying the use isn’t how you bring us together. Especially with such a horrific history my people are still going through in the black community and one thing I don’t play about are the people that lost their lives to the shit. So reducing such a huge derogatory term is beyond disrespectful. The bigger picture is breaking tendencies that brought us both in positions of oppression. Break the cycle and show real love without trying so hard to fit in when you already have a seat at the table it’s all so simple. Having southern folks backing it up clearly shows how much of a chokehold these white folks got y’all into thinking it’s okay. Do better and be better PERIOD because the next generation is definitely watching and we want to see all our people out here living long happy healthy lives and bring real change into the world.

I think it’s ignorance, most people including Mexicans don’t even know that Mexican have black ancestry. Fact, Mexico was the largest import for African slaves. There are still many cities and areas where Afro-Mexican live and have lived for centuries. When Mexico celebrate their Independence they have to give props to Vicente Guerrero. He played a major in Mexico’s Independence, the abolishment of slavery, as well as was their first black president. There is even a city named after him.

@@ezedoesitgarcia3458 Trust and believe I am fully aware that not all Mexicans have African blood. That was not the point of what I was trying to say. I was simply pointing out the similarities within the two cultures. Nevertheless that does not negate the facts. That there is a portion of Mexicans that do you have black blood. It seems like you are very aware of your history. With that being said you already know that the reason why Mexicans speak Spanish is because the white Spaniards came over, conquered, raped and enslaved the native people. Those native people that were enslaved were enslaved with the Africans. Which is why there is the mixture of white and African blood within the Mexican culture.

There’s a reason why Eminem never used the N word in any of his music. If anyone has a Pass to use that word of all people it would be Em. All his friends since birth were black, all his best friends are black yet he was never comfortable using that word in any of his hit songs. The N word is said alot here in California amongst Latinos. It used to be just a Bay Area thing, but now it’s being used and said more than ever before here in Los Angeles with this younger generation.. of course it’s the music that has influenced them. I have good friends that are black but I could never say the N word. For me as a Latino it just doesn’t feel right but to each their own.
