My father was the screenwriter on this film so perhaps I am not objective. For a 10 minute film back in 1938, I think it did a good job of conveying the struggle and tragedy of the life and contribution of Dr. Semmelweis.

so grateful to your father. It was a surprise for me to discover it. Semmelweis was a great doctor and the film showet it in 1938! awesome!

I recall seeing this short on TV many years ago and am gratified to find it here. Of course, it's very melodramatic, but the life it describes was a real-life melodrama. The filmmakers could have gone further: apparently, Semmelweis died as a result of wounds he sustained from the guards at the insane asylum.

The achievements of Dr. Semmelweis, who expressed his correct view despite the pressure of people and society, are still appreciated by people. Thank you, Dr. Semmelweis.

Such a Wonderful movie !!! Reading about Ignaz Semmelweis's life and the kind of opposition and resistance he faced during his medical career for his revolutionary finding, his death in asylum made me upset but nevertheless hopeful.l because immortal ideas live on no matter what !

@federicodimaria6633 жыл бұрын

Good movie but not 5 stars.His mind did not snap suddenly when he thought about the number of women and babies who would die for lack of clean hands and equipment.No one has the exact answer but it was not as sudden as in the movie.It might have been Alzheimer's or a combination of brain or mental pathologies.That lullaby was as tasteless at the beginning as at the end.So sad that he died of infection after a beating by the asylum guards.A truly great man.The Spanish subtitles are something that should be added more often,for our amigos y amigas.
