I was 12 year old boy standing in there, holding strangers hands. As a kid you do not understand things like that. Now I'm crying watching this. Thanks to everyone who made it happen. We do not need guns to fight for freedom. Just take neighbors hand and move forward. Attacking forces usually following only orders, but deep in their harts they are humans too.

This is so beautiful, and so is the song too- (i love lithuanian language and I just started to learn it). We weren't very lucky in history, but definetly lucky to have such neighbors as Lietuva and Eesti. I love our Baltic brothers and sisters! Big hugs from Latvia.

happy 30th anniversary ! in three minths later we had similar peaceful demonstrations in czechoslovakia. and it is just pity that politians split us in to two small puzzle pieces in 1993 without asking us(( i have been a several times in estonia and latvia, once in lithuania and all your three nations deserve freedom as no else. as we know what does it mean to have "big brother" above us.

You can't really compare the 2, trust me I'm from Estonia, I know what I'm talking about, you should do some research how life was in the 1980s under the USSR rule!

And what did you expect? Their freedom was taken for half a century, ignoring the fact that it was ruled by many other kingdoms in the past. They were afraid and knew that they would not have the ability to protect themselves if an attack occured again, and they didn't want their independence to be taken away again. Comparing EU to USSR is the dumbest thing I have ever seen, first of all, it's nowhere near communism and they don't torture other country people, which are apart of EU, don't they? And trust me, for people who were in era when USSR concured this land, it wasn't fun at all, many things (which aren't now) were forbidden back then. Now we at least have a freedom. Also, EU has helped Baltic countries in many ways and if it was not in the EU, I really doubt it would be in a good state right now.
