I'm gonna suggest a show on the blues driver itself. If the tubescreamer can get its own show, the blues driver is also worthy. You can talk about the various popular mods, the stock version, waza craft version, its various uses like the great near clean playing from mick at the beginning of this video, and you can honk for Andy Timmons throughout the episode.

Did anybody look inside or get some confirmation from Boss that this pedal is still two analogue drives in one? I fear boss made more than the switching of pedal order to be digital based on the current draw of the pedal.

This seems to be asked in every video posted on the JB2 -- and the replies from both Boss and JHS allege that isn't the case.
@Robstafarian7 жыл бұрын
+MetObsessed What are you on about? 50mA is entirely believable for two analog drive circuits being run into an analog summing circuit (e.g. the standard BD-2 draws 20mA by itself, and the LS-2 draws 25mA by itself).

As soon as I got cell data back, you guys were the first channel I went for. You made me crack up for the first time in a week after Hurricane Maria destroyed half of my house up in the mountains of Puerto Rico. Thanks for all you gentlemen do. The world is a better place.
@ThatPedalShow7 жыл бұрын
+Ramón Gómez Aponte OMG! Thanks Ramon, so sorry to hear about your house, I trust you and yours are all ok?
@ramongomezaponte63537 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. Yes, family and friends all ok. On Tuesday, I shuttered my place and moved to my mom's so that I could help her out and take refuge from the storm. Good thing I did because the winds were so strong in the highlands that a narrow wall of the house was hinged open. From that moment on, the force of the winds blew open the roof structure as if an explosive charge had been placed in the living room. Miraculously, the other half of the house held and 99% of my belongings were in perfect shape. I am one of the very few fortunate ones. On Friday 22nd, I heard over the only AM radio station that was left standing that Road 156 was "open". So I decided to head up on Saturday. The farm looked as if it had been bombed, but as the initial shock faded a bit and I walked into my house by the collapsed wall I noticed something remarkable. My grandfather's classical guitar that hung on that same wall, had been gently placed on the ground and was in perfect shape. Did not even break a string. I took that as a very good omen. As I write this, it has been 10 days since the hurricane, and I just noticed that all the trees that I can see from here, have little green shoots coming out of the branches that survived. So the takeaway from all of this is that as long as we are alive, everything can be rebuilt. Perhaps we should repurpose that oft quoted saying: keep calm and pedal on.
@theCoffinSeller7 жыл бұрын
Ramón Gómez Aponte That is touching and please don't think I meant this sarcastic in any way. I sincerely hope you can rebuild your home to a satisfying level. I can't do anything for you and Puerto Rico, since I am on the other side of the pond. Thoughts go out to you, your family and those in need. Thoughts and some coins I have.

In case this helps anyone watching: I have a JB-2 and a non-modded regular blues driver as well as a Waza blues driver. In my opinion, the two blues drivers sound almost identical except the Waza one has an extra mode and a better buffer, which makes it sound slightly clearer when on, and invisible, to my ears anyway, when off. I think the blues driver side of the JB-2 perfectly nails the sound of the blues drivers, but I think the JB-2 has the better buffer. I can't comment on the accuracy of the angry charlie side, because I don't own an angry charlie, but I really like that side of the JB-2 and the two sides compliment each other well. :-)

Seven years later and this pedal has proven its one for the ages. I think it’s gonna be my first drive pedal. I started on a katana and moved to a helix stomp, but I want to get some analog gain stage in there (not that the katana and helix aren’t wonderful in their own ways.) - I love both circuits and the parallel sounds really freaking awesome. I usually run parallel amps in helix for that reason. Two amps are better than one.

Took the plunge last week and got my first pedal board along with a Blues Cube Hot and have been really enjoying it. Went with a Mini Wah>Electric Mistress>Soul Food>OD Glove>Canyon Delay>Hall of Fame Mini to start with for pedals and it's been a blast experimenting with different combinations. I've definitely got the bug now and the Angry Driver looks amazing as a possible addition at some point.

Only recently came across the Blues Driver, and have to say,- something you confirm here,- I prefer it over all the MANY boutiques I've tried in the past decade.The only thing I've been equally impressed with are the Bondi Sick As(gold AND blue versions)and more recent Breakers. Not sure which will ultimately win out, but ,- sort of ironically here,- it's a rather pricey JHS that they'll be bumping.Interesting enough, I find my board condensing and becoming less dear, the more I learn and experience.

I'm stunned by the sheer range of playable sounds the JB-2 can conjure. With both the Blues Driver and Angry Charlie sides on, plus the AC side dimed, you're getting into real Smashing Pumpkins territory. Modern pedals like this (along with the D&M drive) exhibit an immediacy yet functional flexibility that allow a player to construct very idiosyncratic sounds without diving into endless menus. Stomps that combine two distinct but interactive elements like this could sit at the very heart of a guitarists board and change the wider game in a subtle but profound way. Magic stuff. Plus, what you do with your horn is your own business. :-)

Original Guv’nor seems to have (excuse the ‘technical talk’😏) a plexi style rasp when pushed that the others don’t duplicate. They seem to go more to fizz.... Must disclose that I have own 2 Guv’nors and haven’t played the others. Great show as usual!

+Justen Stoodley Yep, definitely has something cool going on with it. And we exactly what you mean about the Plexi rasp. :0)

What do I think? I think I wont be putting my Electro Harmonix hot wax duel overdrive pedal away anytime soon especially not for that boss/jhs

The original pedals (blues driver and angry Charlie) sound better to me than the angry driver. Smoother, warmer, less ear piercing. Also it would be nice to see a TPS about the Marshall mk 2 pedals. Good quality, good value pedals that seem to be very underrated.

i swear you cannot tell which is which in a blindfold challenge, the difference is really super minimal to a normal bd2.

I love parallel drive, especially for bass distortion. On my rig, I have a mid-pushed fuzz and a slightly mid-scooped overdrive in parallel, and the sound is huge
