One night in ‘71, I was DJing on WLAC-FM in Nashville and came across the Mel Torme recording of this. I played it mentioning that was for my one true love. It’s been “our song” ever since. 53 years later and neither of us can hear that tune without tearing up.

This brought back so many memories! My wife and I celebrate our two year anniversary this month, this was one of the songs played at our wedding. A dear friend, a former USAF tops in blue pianist, heard this for the first time after we gave her our list of songs. She played a touching arrangement, this is the closest I’ve found. Thank you for bringing that wonderful day back to life for a few minutes.

I’ve been kind of anxious all afternoon because of stuff, but this calmed me down so much that I actually started crying from relief and feeling peaceful for the first time all day. This is really good, it’s like the end of a Ghibli movie and I love it.

Sit down at your piano, keyboard, guitar or whatever instrument and play for yourself. You don't even have to be good, but it's a release for emotions I can't explain, but it works.

Kudos for the Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (do a search on google)? It is a good one off product for learning piano fast without the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my GF after many years got astronomical results with it.

A beautiful performance of a beautiful song. As a late night DJ in the early ‘70s, I played the Mel Torme recording of this for the young lady I was dating. It has been “our song” for nearly 50 years. Thanks for the warm memories!

Thank youuu for the beautiful play 😭❤️ . . . I can only give you love that lasts forever And a promise to be near each time you call And the only heart I own For you and you alone That's all That's all I can only give you country walks in springtime And a hand to hold when leaves begin to fall And a love whose burning light Will warm the winter night That's all That's all There are those I am sure who have told you They would give you the world for a toy All I have are these arms to enfold you And a love time can never destroy If you're wondering what I'm asking in return, dear You'll be glad to know that my demands are small Say it's me that you'll adore For now and evermore That's all That's all

I used to sell pianos and organs a long time ago. Went to a sponsored concert with a factory artist, and a story was related about this woman who had come up to the artist gushing about how good he was and how much she wished she could play like him. Apparently he wasn't having a good day, and he ripped into her, telling her 'no you don't, because if you did you would have been practicing for hours a day, etc.' So, I won't say I wish I played as well as you do, but I wish I had been mature enough to have the mindset to. practice and study to be as good as you are today. I could listen to this kind of music all day. Thank you.

@@JonnyMay Right now, due to legal issues, I'm homeless and away from my Korg PA800, so thankfully outs not that I don't play. I just can't read bass clef or play bass lines. One of these days I'll figure it out. :) But, you may assume I enjoy your music, always have. You have the same initials as one of my favorite writers, Mr. Johnny Mercer. :) Thanks for hanging my day musical.

This has a touch of the late great mastery of Art Tatum. This is one of Jonny's best. It's not overly rehearsed. It feels natural. He really feels it and it shines through.
@unexplained_entity75145 ай бұрын
Honestly this feels far more involved than anything Tatum did. I get it, guy was super talented, but spent far too much time showing off to perform a coherent song in my opinion.

I first heard this song in 2014 or 2015 sung by an amazing female vocalist named Nicole Henry in a now closed jazz club in South Florida. It's the opening song on her 2008 album "The Very Thought of You." She is a world-famous singer who has toured internationally with various backup personnel. Her version is more upbeat than yours, but I just LOVE your romantically-styled version just as much. Especially with its backstory. And your recording technique with the two different mics turned out beautifully! One of my faves of yours!
