Scaletrains is on another level! I love their locomotives. I wish they'd add the speaker on the long hood instead of the fuel tank. I think having it on the long hood end produces better sound. I also hope they do some modern geeps too like the GP-35s, GP-39s dash 2, GP-40s, GP-60s/GP-60Ms as well and some EMDs like the SD-70 ACe. I thought I had seen the SD-70 ACe on their pre-order before but it's no longer there.

I just paid for my pre-order of the Southern Pacific Kodachrome paint scheme. I grew up in California in the 80's and loved that paint scheme. I was so bummed the SPSF merger was stopped. By the way, I'm drinking some Bulletproof coffee.

RJ Corman used to use the Tunnel Motor locomotives on the Aluminum train in my area of KY until recently (2023 Ibelieve). It was a cool experience. Like thunder in the woods. Drinking Maxwell House Columbian with Domino's sugar cube and whole milk.

Got me 9 of those ScaleTrains Tunnel motors, 6 D&RGW and 3 SP. These are nice. Six of the nine I bought have DCC/sound but 3 do not, so I do appreciate you touching on the decoder install bit which looks pretty straight forward.

Today I'm drinking stove top percolated tiramisu coffee. It's got a delicious cocoa flavor, and the coffee cream really brings out the flavor of the mascarpone. So good!

ScaleTrains makes some fine models - I have a couple of BNSF 44 GEVo's - but I'm still waiting for more 4-axle freight locos (although I finally see GP30s next year so that is something). 😀

@DIY at the 4:30 mark with your double crossover, have you reworked the code for the signals?? I see red/red red/red on the opposing signal(s), not what your original code did ;) Oh and the Scaletrains products are great...expensive (here in Canada) but great.

As somebody from Texas, the way you say rio grande is a bit off putting for me personally. The grande part is pronounced “granday”. But that’s probably just me that finds it off putting.

The worst part is I’ve met an older D&RGW employee who said it was pronounced “rye-oh grand” within the company. Younger people in the industry tend to say “ree-oh grand”, which, as a Spanish speaker, doesn’t really bother me. “Rye-oh” was really weird, though. It happens. In Spain people think “Nike” has a silent -e and “KZbin” doesn’t.

Some of us (1) just want to run those old difficult-to-find diesel locomotives and (2) do not have the consumate skills to install a sound decoder (soldering, shaving cavities, etc), or have the $$ to pay someone else to do it. As for steam, I would tend to agree that they demand sound.
