Most of the foreigners visit Anuradhapura, Kandy, Ella, Galle etc. But no one visit Ratnapura (Gem City). In Sri Lanka, 3/4 waterfalls situated in Ratnapura district. Also there are so many places to visit here such as Sri Padhaya, Nonperial, Backer's bend, Udawalawa National Park etc.. There are no proper plan to promote Ratnapura. Thanks Tim for your valuable video. I request tourists, when you come to Sri Lanka, don't forget to visit Gem City.

They say around 20% to 25% of the land area of Sri Lanka could be gem-bearing. This island is very famous for Blue Sapphires & Rubies. Process of Gem Mining is Very Hard, First We have to Find the Soil that Contains the Gems, That we Call "illam" in Local Language, Experienced Miners Can Identify the Places by Just Looking. After that Dig Through a Tunnel and Bring the Soil Out, then Wash the Soil and see for the Gems, There are Many Traditions and Believes in the Gem Miners, It is a Quit Interesting Subject.
