Hello again Jon :) I´ve really enjoyed finding your channel and jumping around finding your covers of a lot of great songs 🥰 Some new, some old, all a pleasure to listen too 👏👌 But this one, "Just the way it is", to me, sounds like you are too much "up in your head" while playing? Like, the technique is great, but not much feeling in the song/tempo/rhythm or whatever it is? It could be you just had a bad day like we all do sometimes, or the tempo was just a tiny bit to fast to convey the sadness and melancholy that pours out of Bruce Hornsby´s incredibly awesome playing in the original song? I know you have no problem with this in other covers, which is probably why I noticed it here straight away :D

Its almost as if youre playing to many notes in one pedal press, i am a total amateur though. I feel like it sounds a bit washy, as if he got carried away and jammed a bit too hard. Could also just be the way its recorded. I dont mean to hate in no way. It sounds awesome, i just thought i would share my criticism. Keep up the grat work my man! That part at 2:20 is magical
@jmopiano3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! I do tend to overpedal, but it’s part of my style. Since I’m not able to reach the pedals without extensions, I use my fingers to sustain in addition to the pedals. You can watch my documentary and learn a little more about this.

Great work, Jon Michael! Would it be possible for you to point us to the sheet music you used for this?
@jmopiano3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! Actually, I don’t use any sheet music. I’m just making all of my arrangements up real-time in the studio. Once a video becomes popular enough, MusicNotes.com will hire someone to transcribe them for me, since I don’t read music. All of this to say, I would imagine this will be available by this summer.
