Great one! Buddy Stewart was an extremely talented and versatile vocalist, with an ability to switch effortlessly and expertly from the role of group singer to romantic baritone balladeer to bop innovator. Though he is best known for his work in the Krupa orchestra, he had worked earlier in Claude Thornhill's band, as a member of the Snowflakes vocal group, and later with Charlie Barnet's and Charlie Ventura's bop-oriented aggregations. He frequently collaborated with Dave Lambert, of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, and had begun to record under his own name, when he was tragically killed in an automoblile accident, putting a very sad end to a both fruitful and still more promising career.
