Then explain why it is, that in the mid 1970's while I lived in Arctic Bay Nunavut, two straight years, we went without most of our sealift supplies. It was then a small hamlet of about 500 dependent upon that food and supplies. What did come in lasted about 4 months. Thankfully many of us were able to hunt. We had meat and zero veg or fruit. This is nothing but Canadian government propaganda. I have since learned even though I now live back in a southern area, that the Canadian government under either liberals or conservatives are all talk and no action. Especially since their shift to capitalism. People no longer count.
@adamrodgers9175
@adamrodgers9175 3 жыл бұрын
Nunavut as itself didn't become a thing technically till the 90s before it was part of the territories and you must just have forgotten the indigenous wanted to control of what's theirs. That's what you have going on in your story. As much as you want to wave your first, native people chose that life the people of that land chose that life. Lucky even getting help. There's only a couple roads leading up north...fishing, hunting is the way of life up there. It's like the time Quebec wanted to seperate, want to be Canadian but don't want to be apart of, want individualism in their life but still want help from the rest of the country. Up north is basically it's own deal and people have forgotten that and the people wanted that. I'm not saying being mistreated is right, but when you fight back against the hand that feeds you, you won't be getting much to eat.

@Bill New York They are a nuisance around the towns of Churchill Manitoba on Hudson's Bay because there is no ice and no food. Their population as a whole is definitely not growing. No matter how hard some people want to pretend that the ice is not melting, at an alarming rate... it is happening and, it needs to be accepted and dealt with. I'm not sure what pleasure people get out of denying climate change. It's counter-intuitive, to say the least.

Read up on the history of the discovery of the Northwest passage and its impact on trade. When the passage is clear of ice during the short summer months in the Arctic depending of course on the unpredictable weather, it is a less costly and shorter trip for ships, especially cargo. Instead of going through the Panama Canal to reach the Pacific, the NW passage saves billions of $$ to shipping companies which impact the cost of supply and demand. BTW, just for your information, more polar bears are killed by organised hunting companies in the USA and Canadian northern communities that cater to rich people from all over the world that pay top dollar to kill Polar Bears. Research it.
@R.U.1.2.
@R.U.1.2. 3 жыл бұрын
@@GaisSacredCreations The purpose is not to sell this pristine and unique environment in Canada to the highest bidder. The Inuit people are allowed, by tradition to hunt walrus, whales, and Polar bears on a quota system. Part of that quota can be used for licensed hunters led by Inuit guides as a means for them to make a living. How does removing that environment that allows these animals to even exist, seem logical? We don't WANT foreign shipping and it's inevitable oil spills and pollution just so the conglomerates like Cosco and Maersk can make billions... I believe this is exactly your point. We don't WANT that. I speak as a Canadian shareholder and steward of this untouched environment, and I know I also speak for my fellow Canadians concerned about climate change and the damage this will cause. A viable option of making marine protected areas, that people can enjoy in perpetuity using Inuit guides, is one of many solutions. Anyone can easily hunt a Polar bear with just a hammer because it will relentlessly track and come to you, they are their own worst enemy, so that mindset has to be changed as well. Things need to change for the better, and that's our job ahead. You offer no practical solutions for this beautiful and serene untouched environment. I have researched this, it, and other histories of the Northwest passage, which were school subjects for every Canadian student, and much more, have experienced it first hand. These are our waters.
