That sinking feeling.... pencil rendering / 3D Typography

Here's a pencil rendering of some 3D typography. I used 2 rotring 600's (one with 0.5 HB graphite and the other with 0.5 Staedtler Mars blue leads), and a regular 2H pencil.
*A few production notes!*
I wanted to try out a few things here.
1) letters at different angles to each other - it throws up loads of options for interesting cast shadows between the letters
2) finding a good reason to use the blue leads I've had for ages and never seem to use
3) experiment with a transparent ground plane - this means shadows fall on the surface as well as below - think this will open up a lot of possibilities for new pieces.

Hi lex, Love your work. How do you create the letterforms? Are you free handing it or are you using individual perspective traces of each letter. There seems to be a massive amount of work just to get to the start of this vid. I am truly blown away if this all freehand perspective. Regards Kinklee.
