Army old timers might remember this. When I was in training to be a cavalry scout at Ft. Knox, KY in the mid 80s I was housed in a barracks called the Disney barracks. I remember hearing that's where we were headed and just thought it was some sort of cutesy ironic nickname. But no, when we arrived (at the end of a grueling several-mile forced march) I saw the sign out front read "Disney Barracks." So yeah. I have no idea why, but being as buildings on Army posts tend to be named after soldiers I doubt it has anything to do with Walt Disney. Anyone who has seen the movie "Stripes" has seen the Disney Barracks. Bill Murray's character was housed there. It's since been torn down and replaced with something else. Still, when I recently re-watched the movie it was odd to see it and feel a deep nostalgia for a place where I spend some of the hardest days of my entire life. Believe me, when I finally left that place I never wanted to see it again.

Trondheim in Norway actually holds one of the largest U-boat pens and U-boat bunkers in the world, built during the WW2 occupation mostly by slave labor. There's several U-boat dry docks too, and the bunker could be hermetically sealed during attacks. American bombing raids barely did much more than chip the concrete, it's an absolute beast. And you can really get a true sense of how gigantic these bunkers/pens are when you see them. Because unlike many similar types of builds, large bunkers in particular, that were often built "onto" mountain sides, with the majority of the "building" being (inside) the mountain itself - with these ones in Trondheim they are complete free-standing structures. Dora 1, the primary completed bunker, has a 3.5 meter thick concrete roof reinforced with steel railroad rails for rebar. Walls are on average 3 meter thick, but much more in certain areas. Attempts to demolish it after the war was abandoned due to the sheer monsterous size and strength, making blowing it up the _most_ reasonable means, but it again it barely chipped the paint and getting it done would require so much explosive power it would utterly demolish all the other infrastructure in the "near" area. Today it houses warehouses, bowling alleys, repair docks, the state archive and some other businesses. About 15 years ago, working on expanding gate openings for trucks and cutting new doorways to prepare for the state archive moving in, I was doing concrete rework so I was on the crew that cut new and enlarged openings in both outer and inner walls of the bunker. As the company I was working for was only one of 2-3 companies at the time (of which I was one of maybe 10 operators total), with the kind of diamond wire concrete saws neccessary to perform these kinds of jobs. Even just a 2.2x2.4 meter doorway opening took nearly a month to complete. First you use core drilling equipment to drill a grid of 16 holes through the ~3 meter thick interior wall (impossible to extract the cut pieces in just 2-3 chunks, had to be cut out in 9 blocks). All which must be drilled at a very slight angle, to create effectively a relief angle for the segments/blocks (like you do when creating a rigid casting mold), or they're gonna jam when you try to extract them. Then you pull a wire through one hole and out another, a wire that has almost like oblong oval beads cast around the wire every 15cm, these "beads" are tungsten with industrial diamonds mixed into them (not just embedded in the surface, so in theory they continue to cut well even if the beads wear down). Then there's a big driver unit with pulleys and a self-tensioning mechanism, that runs this wire in a loop slowly cutting out the pieces block by block. In theory the only limitation to how deep a cut you can make, is the length of wire you got. That wire was probably ~800-1000 dollars per meter from Hilti, adjusted for inflation. Finally when all sides of a block is cut like this, you use heavy industrial machines to pull the cut element out of the hole. Then it can be removed as is if possible, or cut into smaller pieces using a concrete track-saw. Doing this job, was hella expensive. We got to confirm the old rumor/urban legend about the railroad rail reinforcement, and boy did those rails chew up a lot of extremely expensive wire. Luckily it's fairly straight forwards and resource effective to splice that type of wire, but the entire project of about a year probably consumed over a hundred grand just in wire. That's absurd, given that cutting "normal" reinforced concrete, there's actually quite moderate wear on the wire.
@Kargoneth

@pr0xZen That was quite interesting to read. Thanks. It must have been frustrating to witness the slow progress of the cutting wire.
@pr0xZen
@pr0xZen 2 жыл бұрын
@@Kargoneth Thank you. And yes, it's quite frustrating. At least early on, back then there was no smartphone to kill the time with 😅 You get more used to it, but it doesn't stop being boring and at least _somewhat_ frustrating. It's also wet and messy (wire needs water feeds for cooling and lubrication, watery concrete sludge is spraying all over), so couldn't really bring anything to read either unless you tear out every page and laminate them first 😂

What else do you call that? ☔️ Yes, word usage changes - but in the context of the original definition and the timeline? It's entirely accurate and appropriate. Evolution of its usage included nuclear during the cold war. Bush Sr used it in sn address to the UN. Clinton used it to refer to chemical weapons in Iraq. Bush Jr used it to justify the war. The FBI as late as 2013 considered the Boston bomber's improvised pressure cooker bomb was a WMD. I believe all of those still meet the original definition too, yes? Simon, I have a genuine question. We know that if someone tries to attack a presidential candidate, the secret service can shoot them, but what happens if one candidate tried to physically attack the other? I doubt the secret service could shoot them, but what would they be able to do or not do ?? ? ?
@Cuuniyevo
@Cuuniyevo 2 жыл бұрын
Typically, the candidates are not armed, so they would just be tackled and detained/arrested. If a candidate did for some stupid reason have a weapon and draw it in a threatening manner, they would not have any immunity from the Secret Service's lethal response.

@@zach11241 I would again assume that there would be no weapons involved and the President would just be restrained until they calmed down. They're typically much older and less physically fit than Secret Service agents, to say nothing of less well-trained in hand-to-hand combat. I imagine the Chief of Staff and Vice President would be notified and the cabinet would have to consider whether the President had undergone a mental breakdown and needed to be removed from office under the 25th Amendment.

I’ve hated them when they sold young girls on the idea of waiting for their prince or if you love them enough-they will change. Have you seen the violent temper the Beast has and why there are so many broken things in the castle. Also the exorbitant price of Disneyland and I’m a SoCal resident!

Important question Can sheath be worn by female’s as well? (Well yes ofc I know that it’s just clothing & by that can be worn by anyone) But I mean do you have to be a guy to get the affect’s of Sheath underwear, or does it work for females as well?? If not does Sheath make underwear with the same “technology” affect for females, if not is there another company that does sell underwear with the same affect but for females???🤔🤨🤷‍♂️ I can imagine that we all get hot & sweaty in that area, & that it isn’t just a guy problem. Well in fact I know for sure that we all male as females get hot & sweaty all the same down there, so does Sheath work for both or somehow just for guys????🤔🤨

I was just wondering why they made cheeky boy short and panty without the pouch but it's because they are made of the same material.

I can't say I know a ton about Disney as I'm starting this video but I do know that company makes me extremely nervous with the sheer amount of money and influence they have.

Yeah, people say we need less government influence in the market, but at this point the market has grown so tumorously big that the market is now influencing the government, and if not stopped, could become the government.
