Gobta is actually a genius in terms of raw talent. He's never the strongest but don't underestimate him. In the manga or ln (don't remember) there is the story of how he alone went to dwargon to sell some stuff and he is actually pretty smart to make his life easier and make the journey and even manages to defeat a monster that is way stronger than him by luring it into a trap. He learned shadow movement and summoning a wolf by himself and the kick he used on gabiru is the one rimuru used on him 2 episodes earlier. So he saw the move once and managed to use it himself. Also his strategy here was pretty clever because he knew in a straight up fight he was weaker than Gabiru. So he distracted him with the spear and used that moment to attack him from behind. Considering he was put on the spot he did fantastically.

So my mans was just raw rom the beginning, and I love the theory a few comments up about how Gobta could have been born a Hobgolbin from the start which is why his looks never change but he just got a power boost, he's pioneering the martial arts for Goblins lol

He'll still fight but he knows his limits actually pretty well and will leave things to the stronger people because he isn't a battle maniac like the rest. He will do his job but he isn't hot headed like Benimaru for example.

Something that has been mentioned in the anime before, but wasn't explained that well about the process of naming is this: By naming a monster you basically create a self-refilling magicule battery for a one time price of magicules. Now imagine what rimuru could technically do. By absorbing monsters and the like, Rimuru increases his magicule capacity (not his "current" magicules). The more magicules (the stronger) the monster has, the bigger his increase in capacity is. Technically, though depending on the conversion rate it might be in efficient, Rimuru could go around naming monsters, thus making them stronger, and later on absorb them to increase his magicule capacity.

I bet that Gelmud named those monsters because he wanted to make a big ass army. He named Rigur because he saw that elder was almost at the death door and would have taken elders place so he'd have goblins on his side , he named Gabiru so that he'd have lizardsmen army , he wanted to name ogres but it didnt work out and had most of them killed and now he named orc now so he has quite a big army. Probably didnt think ahead they might want to defend their homes and not join his army.

I love Rimuru but at times hes too careless and passes down the buck to his subordinates. For 2 years Shions cooking was terrible because he just kept having Benimaru, Diablo and others taste her cooking instead of fixing the problem. In a few months, Luminus made her an actually good chef because she made Shion taste her own food first. She never realized it was terrible because no one told her or asked her to taste it. Sure she got an OP skill because of it so i guess it worked out but it was still handled poorly.

That's y I would say among all the OP isekai characters, watching Rimuru grow both in power n as a leader is an awesome journey.
