Fun fact: Mario was originally going to carry a handcannon in the first Super Mario Bros., but Miyamato shut the idea down. So, it's funny that almost 10 years later, Nintendo's mascot was allowed to live his dream as a gunslinger for one game.

Ah, so similar to Link’s Crossbow training where the initial concept was to send Link to the future for full assault rifle action before they dialed it back to a magic crossbow in Twilight Princess. I swear there’s a gun addiction hidden deep within Japan just waiting to get out. Even with the Smash 4 global results they always picked characters with guns(America picked punching characters and Europe loves it’s swords) Note: I’m all for it. @@rickpgriffin The battery life was really not that big a deal, they would last several multi-hour sessions for weeks if you remembered to switch it off. I would even constantly switch it off during non-interactive sections where I'm waiting for something to stop exploding and such, extending play time even further. There was one time when my stepbrother went in my room and played with it without asking me and left me with dead batteries because he left it turned on. I have never forgiven him.

And I agree with Dylan, speaking of the music in Redline isn't just great, but reminds me a lot of Japanese Jazz Fusion. And that is _very_ good

Loved the designs though. Would love a remaster to actually play it. Also interesting to see the Predator franchise curse’s fledgling start was on the games before it evolved to eat the movie franchises. :p

Damn, Yoshi's Safari! When I was a kid my parents bought the Nintendo Scope second hand from my neighbour, but it only had the 6 game "compilation" which was pretty boring. But years later I won a contest from Spanish magazine Nintendo Acción and got Yoshi's Safari and Battleclash, probably the best two games for the Scope. I remember making my younger brother play YS with me in the 2 players mode, he used the pad and I took charge of the Scope. I think we never finished the game, it wasn't that easy! Goood times.
@GmodPlusWoW Жыл бұрын
Weirdly enough, I feel like a modern version of Yoshi's Safari could be pretty tight. That said, I reckon they'd need more weapon variety. Perhaps the NES Zapper could be the rapid-fire, and the Super Scope would be the heavy-hitter, while also having a Hammer for enemies that are better dealt with up-close. Meanwhile, Mario would be able to throw special attacks with his offhand; stuff like fireballs, snowballs, superballs, boomerangs, Koopa shells, bananas, etc. With that said, offhand specials would probably only be for Zapper and Hammer, since the Super Scope would need two hands, though it'd probably have multiple firing modes to compensate: one launching a homing Bullet Bill, the other launching a "dumbfire" Bobomb.

Love this channel but I don't think it's accurate to say that a 4-player multitap was "unheard of" and "beyond our comprehension" when the NES had the Satellite (4 player wireless!) in 1989 and then the Four Score (4 player wired) in 1990. They weren't rare and there were about 20 games, many popular ones including Bomberman 3, that supported 3-4 players. It was definitely exciting for the SNES but around for years on the NES.

Super Bomberman was an amazing game! The co-op story was really fun too! Got to the last boss on a 7 day rental and couldn't figure out how to beat him with my brother since he flew above the stage and never came down. As a kid I remember seeing ads for the Super Scope and not even knowing what it was for. I've never even held one. Now, with all the overdesigned peripherals we've seen in the decades since, I can't even imagine being five and hoisting that thing on my shoulder for a whole play session. The NES Zapper itself is only remembered for Duck Hunt, but it's a much better peripheral because it's easy for *anyone* to hold and aim.

I remember renting Battle Cars way back when! It was certainly a great mix of Mario Kart and F-Zero and it had 2-Player split-screen! I also remember there being a cheat code revealed after you beat the game that let you play in the top-down "Micro Machines" perspective the ending cutscene would show you. (It also made the game slightly easier by not spawing the crushers that'd appear when time ran out in the qualifying stages, basically giving you infinite time to farm credits to upgrade your car!)

Ah yes, the SNES multitap. Technology never seen before! Except in 1989 when the NES Satellite was released. Or 1989 when the TurboGrafx-16 TurboTap was released. Or the parallel port adapters for Amiga and Commodor 64.

I was right in commenting that Yoshi's Safari would be in this episode, but I'm sure it wasn't hard to guess. The story in Dashing Desperados is so messed up😂. Sadly I used to have the game Super Scope 6. It was bought for me as a birthday gift but I couldn't play it. One time at an old game store that no longer exists I saw the actual Super Scope accessory but for some reason I didn't tell my mom to get it. It would have been nice to have though. I know it wasn't the greatest thing like at all, but it would have been better than just having a game for it I can't play and can only watch the demos. And SNES almost completely conquered this week. Just had to put that stupid Desperados game on Genesis to mess that up😂

That song from Redline, to me, sounds like something from Mario Kart, only more mellow, and I love it! Just from the clips, Yoshi's Safari looks like it could have been fun, but likely would have been one of those "not worth the investment" situations, since you'd have to buy the Super Scope just to play that and maybe one or two other games. (unless you were all-in on the scope, and decided to go out of your way to collect all those games)

That game was hella lame. Then I talked him into buying me Capcom's Aladdin anyways, soooo.. that was pretty cool. edit: 4:10 I think X-Zone by Kemco might be the best Super Scope game I played back in the day, much aided by the ability to put an aiming reticle on the screen by holding the cursor button, so you could fire the SS from the hip and avoid the fatigue inherent with holding your arms up for extended periods.
