One of the best stories of the 2023 season was when Philadelphia baseball fans embraced the notion of brotherly love. Shortstop Trea Turner struggled through much of the first half of the season, getting accustomed to boos and high expectations from fans. When the fans banded together through social media and local radio to consciously turn the boos into applause, Trea Turner felt the love and he got hot.

He was so in his head about playing well with his contract and just him being a superstar he had put too much pressure on his shoulders. He wanted to show he was worth the money and his value and he became a bad player. The standing ovations told him "hey we understand you're down, but we need you. forget about the contract and forget about being a superstar be you and play your game of ball. We want you to succeed and we see the hard work you're putting in to be better now get out there and play your game." He held himself accountable and was putting in the work we can't be upset about that. That's what we want from our guys

I have been a die hard Philly fan for over 25 years. We are a passionate fan base. We show are love and appreciation and unfortunately show are disappointment. Not always in the best way but that's Philadelphia.

I am a Mets fan; I was too familiar with how great Trea Turner is. I remember this sequence of events but had never seen any footage of it. After that painful interview he conducted - and you could see he was suffering, you could have all the money in the world and suffer - followed by the ovations and him absorbing the electricity and returning to himself...I actually cried. Human moments make the game. For the Mets it was Wilmer Flores weeping and then winning a game with a walkoff. This was very, very special..

Bruh, I really thought this would be Trea Turner's go-ahead grandslam against Venezuela in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. I mean seriously, that moment was damn memorable.

Oh look it’s the terrible philly fans, the fans that have no love, the fans that don’t care, the fans that are the worst in all of sports, the fans that don’t have your back, the fans that are impossible to play for. That’s what the media and everyone who isn’t philly doesn’t understand and never will. We love and care more than anyone. We don’t boo cause we hate you, we boo cause we know you can be better. You give us your all and we’ll love you to the day you die. You give up on our city and we’ll hate u every time you show your face. Some players get it and some don’t. Theirs a reason why the players that get it, never want to leave philly.

This was truly something different. I used to watch baseball when I was a kid. Didn’t get back in until phils got into the wildcard. I’m a die hard eagles fan but just fell off with baseball overall. Would came was crazy. I watched most of the 2023 szn. And I watched the game with his error. Then watched post game like I would normally do that year and so forth. But the second I saw him take credit for the loss I went right to social media saying to “give him the bohm treatment.” And with the help of everyone they did it. Truly fell in love with the game that day. “Baseball is a wonderful game” -Rob Thomson. Now as of 6/29/24, hope Walker, Turnbull, Kyle and harp are back as soon as they can. I love this place!

I saw Trea at a grocery store in D.C. in 2018. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, and how I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I would have liked this video, because Turner is one of my top two favorite Phillies, and I've been following this team for over 40 years living on the West Coast, but I was there in Oct on a bucket list to finally see the Phillies play in a postseason game, in-person, and met the Philly Captain guy from KZbin twice. The first time he was a really nice guy and I was glad to talk to him about the Phillies, but the second time he was nothing but a *pure asshole!!* I had the opportunity to have over a dozen discussions with other Phillies fans there, and *nobody* was so full of themselves and conceited as that SOB was...

Exactly. Why anyone cares about the athletic opinions of a huge fat boy is beyond me. He can barely fit in his seat.

Good point, I actually really never considered that until just now. Geez, yeah I was not impressed with the Philly Captain the second time I met him.

At least it’s not Giancarlo Stanton

I don't understand...what I remember best about Stanton in the NL (I'm a Mets fan) were those ridiculous home runs, and how he took it upon himself to shepherd the Marlins through the loss of Jose Rodriguez. He walked like a man, the whole bewildered team, including several who were really a wreck, followed his lead the day they had their first game since Fernandez's death. That was Giancarlo Stanton.

Is TREA TURNER starting in the ALL STAR GAME?? Have you seen his stats against that of LINDOR??.Right now TREA TURNER can' t carry LINDOR' jocks. Besides he was a better centerfielder with the NATS than a shortstop.

Perhaps he was playing poorly because the fans were booing him

If you hadn't driven the guy to a nervous breakdown you wouldn't need to fix him. Just because you claim to be great fans doesn't make it true.

U do know that besides New York..Philly is one of the biggest stages to play on..if ur paid a lot of money and don't perform..do u expect fans to be nice?..

Soft response. His play was bad, both O and D, and he was not booed more than any fanbase would boo their players. If you watched any Phillies games that year you would have known the fans were not over the top. Bring an informed comment next time.
